In the days of rising petrol prices and increasing utility bills, we could all do with a bit of cheering up. That’s where The Sun comes into the reckoning, with the newspaper generally giving us a laugh with their outlandish exclusives, where they claim that Cristiano Ronaldo will become a Real Madrid player very soon, and that Emmanel Adebayor will sign on the dotted line for Milan any day soon. Just don’t hold your breath!
Now that both players have committed to their respective clubs this summer, it’s time for this rag of rags to turn their attention back to Dimitar Berbatov, the forgotten man of the column inches in recent weeks. They are claiming that Manchester United, who are a bit short of strikers at the moment due to injuries, are going to land the Bulgarian from Spurs very very soon.
ALEX FERGUSON aims to land Dimitar Berbatov in a £25million deal by the end of next week.
The Manchester United boss has had a £22m bid rejected with Tottenham wanting £30m.
United will go to £25m and believe that will be enough to secure the unsettled striker.
Ferguson said: “We are looking at some options at the moment — three or four different options about the strike department which we hope will come to a happy conclusion.
“Hopefully we will have someone in for the start of the season.”
So how does ‘three of four options’ equate to Dimitar Berbatov? Surely putting four together doesn’t equal one? Or is it just because The Sun know that United are definitely interested in the Tottenham striker, so they can sell a few more copies with this one? Or could they just be right for once in their lives?
