Arsenal close to £3m deal: Wenger will surely agree
by Mr Comfort on August 11th, 2008Arsene Wenger has lost some important players this summer, but the latest supposedly set to leave will not be greatly missed if he does indeed make this move to Middlesbrough.

GARETH Southgate is pushing Arsenal for a quick decision on Boro’s written bid for defender Justin Hoyte.
Southgate is keen to have the right-back in his line-up for the opening Premier League game against Spurs at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday.
Boro are believed to have offered around £3m for the 23-year-old, who has failed to establish a regular place for himself at the Emirates.
Hoyte is seen by Southgate as a perfect replacement for Luke Young, who has completed a £5.5m move to Aston Villa, rising to £6m after appearances. (gazettelive.co.uk)
Justin Hoyte has struggled to claim a run in the first team, and this has been down chiefly to the fact that he is simply has not been able to challenge those ahead of him in the Arsenal queue. More than five years after his debut, the full-back may be ready to contemplate a future away from the Emirates and a move to Boro would at least help him to secure a first-team run that could rejuvenate a stuttering career.
Wenger will also be happy for the cash injection that comes in handy alongside the cash he received from the sale of Bentley to Spurs, and from the departure of Hleb, Flamini, Silva and Co. Hoyte is by no means a bad player but he simply isn’t a top-four level player, but could thrive at the Riverside. Do Gunners fans think that Justin could still make it at the club or should they cut their losses and sell?

A Comfort piece that seems pretty straightforward and not too salacious that’s good to see. Anyway back to the piece, yes its time for Hoyte to go, expect him to be a mid table player but never good enough for a regular Arsenal spot.

I’d rather we keep him to be honest.
I mean he may be a back up player but I’d rather him play than Traore if Clichy is injured and he’s an alright CB as well. He’s a decent reserve player and our defence will suffer if more than 2 injuries occur and he’s not there.
Still if he goes he goes and I wish him the best. I think our best bet would be to send him out on loan to them though, then when he gets the first team play we get him back better than ever, lol.

I’d like to keep him as well. He’s a solid backup and is willing to fight for his place. His love for Arsenal is refreshing when you consider some of the self-absorbed players that have left and are still at the club.

I think we should keep him. He’s such a nice lad, and he could iron the doilies at Sopwell House or something. Plus he keeps his brother company.

No cash was received for the departure of Flamini. He left on the free. . .
ARSENAL GENERAL - August 12th, 2008 at 7:34 am
i think we should let him go so he can play regular football to help his career.

let him stay to establish himself and contribute a great impact in the squad, he’s a challenging player.
The Voice Of Reason - August 12th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
manny, I said he’s a solid backup. I know he’s not as good as Sagna but he’s an OK insurance plan if Sagna gets hurt. He seems to be content in fighting for a place. I think we could do a lot worse than having him as second choice RB.
