Now that this much-targeted winger appears to have been turned down by Inter Milan, could Rafa Benitez decide to join the chase for this Porto ace?
The ‘Special One’ has been after Quaresma all summer but his €27m price tag seems to have scuppered any chance of negotiations between the two clubs.
The former Chelsea coach is aware of the Dragoes midfielder’s abilities but it seems as if he will not take his interest in the winger any further.
“Quaresma can give the team a chance to play with other options but we already have plenty of midfielder’s in the side,” Mourinho told Record.
Just days ago, Inter president Massimo Moratti revealed that he was not prepared to pursue the Porto star and his message seems to have reached Mourinho. (goal.com)
As Rafa has already displayed an interest in the Porto man, maybe Jose’s decision to pass on Quaresma could open the door for a move from the Merseyside outfit? Having already been linked with the likes of David Silva, Stewart Downing and other wide men, its clear that Benitez wants more creativity from this area. On his day, Ricardo can be as good as anyone, and it appears his club has had enough of the Portuguese international’s attempts to orchestrate a move so maybe now would be a good time to put in a bid?
Do Liverpool fans think a bid for Quaresma would be a better option than continuing to chase Gareth Barry?
