Arsenal striker: ‘FC Twente are the Dutch equivalent of Spurs’

The Gunners travel to Holland this week, hoping to take a giant step towards qualification for the Champions League group stages. They are sure to encounter a hostile reception from the FC Twente fans, who were overjoyed when their team qualified for this competition last season and will hope that Steve McLaren’s expertise can give them half a chance of creating an upset.
The Guardian reports that Robin Van Persie is taking nothing for granted, although the Arsenal striker couldn’t resist a little poke at the club’s north London rivals when asked who the English equivalent of FC Twente were.
“Tottenham Hotspur,” he replied with a laugh, following a slight pause.
“I know Twente quite well as I have Dutch satellite TV at home,” said Van Persie. “They had a great year last year and although they’ve lost Engelaar and El Ahmadi, who were the playmakers, they got one good player back from Vitesse Arnhem‚ Äì Janssen Äì, so they are still in good shape with a good team.”
It looks like Arsenal have got a scout of their own, just as McLaren is sure to be well-acquainted with the Gunners squad in what promises to be an intriguing clash. While many would expect the Gunners to waltz through to the knockout stages, there are likely to be one or two tricky moments for Wenger’s men in Holland. What are your predictions for the match?
