Arsene has once again been linked with a keeper, this time the target plies his trade in the SPL for Rangers, but should Arsenal be using their funds to fill other positions instead?
Arsenal Football Club have been linked with a shock move for Allan McGregor.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper is rated as one of the best shot-stoppers in Britain, since breaking into the Glasgow Rangers team in 2006 after seeing off competition for the number one jersey.
Despite only signing a new five-year contract with the Ibrox giants in March of this year, McGregor has been linked with a move to England with Newcastle United said to be interested.
However, it is now being rumoured that Arsene Wenger is willing to take a chance on the Scottish international, as he looks for a long-term successor for Jens Lehmann.
The Gunners coach has plenty of cash at his disposal this summer, and he is willing to offer the Edinburgh-born player the chance of Premier League football if the Gers accept a £5million bid. (fansfc.com)
Manuel Almunia proved his worth as first choice at the Emirates last term, and the Spaniard will no doubt be keen to keep that spot for the coming season. With Fabianski behind him in the keeper queue, many would probably believe that Arsenal don’t really need to splash out on a keeper of any great ability and would more likely opt for a veteran just in case of a succession of injuries. They also have young Vito Mannone on their books, so a move for the Rangers keeper seems a tad unnecessary. Do Gunners fans think that Arsene needs to sign another keeper or are there more pressing issues to deal with?
