West Ham were linked with this top-notch midfielder, but this source below claims that Spurs boss Juande Ramos is after his services also!
The Ghana international Stephen Appiah has fallen out with his club Fenerbahce, and it has been reported in fenerbahceworldwide that he is in negotiations with both Tottenham and West Ham.
The midfielder is expected to command a price of around £6million, which is close to the figure that Fenerbahce paid Juventus for him three years ago.
West Ham manager Alan Curbishley is believed to be interested in Appiah after the loss of Kieron Dyer due to injury.
The club is reportedly nervous about Appiah’s medical condition, however, and wants to give the Ghana native a detailed medical exam before making a decision. Appiah has had a long lay-off due to a recurring knee injury.
According to modernghana, Spurs boss Juande Ramos is a known admirer of the Ghanaian and is reported to be monitoring the situation as he continues to add to his squad at White Hart Lane. (footylatest.com)
Stephen Appiah has been out for some time now due to complex medical problems relating to a knee injury that escalated and left him out for most of last season. This injury worry will have to be assessed before either Premier League outfit consider making a move. However, if he is given the all-clear, then he could well be a top talent for either side.
Tottenham obviously have a lot to offer with an array of bold impressive signings over the summer and a UEFA Cup spot to boot. However, at West Ham, Appiah will be guaranteed a first team place, something he may struggle to secure in the crowded White Hart Lane midfield. Some reports suggest that the north London side holds the upper hand over the Hammers, but only time will tell.
