Spurs must focus on European Glory this season
by Stratty on August 15th, 2008Jose Mourinho’s anticipation of Arsenal’s long-awaited demise will inspire many Spurs fans to dream of glory this coming season.

Mourinho was quoted on www.feelfootball.com.
“I would put Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool as favourites again to win the Premier League - but regarding Arsenal, they also have a great team, but I’m not sure if the group have enough experience and quality to win.
“I see nobody else to win the Premier League, but Tottenham surely have the quality to fight for a top-four finish.”
Perhaps the most important goal for the N17 regulars would be an immediate European triumph.
Last year Manchester United overtook Tottenham in the number of European successes to become the second most successful British team in Europe.
The table now reads Liverpool an astonishing 8 wins (they are the most successful British team, despite Ferguson’s bleating), Man Utd with 4 wins and Spurs with 3 - then the rest.
This should not diminish the achievements of Celtic, Forest and Villa who have all won the Big One. Chelsea’s extraordinary financial development belies the fact that in terms of honours, they are very much a club in awe of traditional giants.
Juande must be the man who can bring Spurs up to four trophies this season with a team that is primed for UEFA Cup glory. And in the long term, the claim to be the first London team to win the Champions League is still up for grabs…

Recent reports have identified that part of the Tottenham’s problem in dealing with Zenit St Petersburg has been that Spurs have struggled to identify exactly who has the authority to sell players at the club!
Press releases from one Zenit club source have been promptly contradicted by a subsequent source throughout summer. Lesson: wait until you see him running out of the tunnel on a match day before assuming he’s been signed.

Without Berbatov Spurs wont have a chance, he came on at Boro and seemed to be purposely playing poor balls, bloke wannts out. Boro were brilliant btw.

well done spurs on a successful start to the season! hahahahahaha
Ben_BKK - August 16th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
What a start to the season by Spurs, eh?
2-1 to Middlesbrough, and it was an own goal on top of that…should’ve been 4 to Boro as well, Wheater’s first was disallowed for some crazy reason, and Alves should’ve scored in the first half. Look out Big 4, here come the mighty Spurs!

Dawson was at fault on both goals away to Middlesbrough, and remains a bemused figure in defence. King’s absence is perplexing given yesterdays assurances that he had overcome the problems with his knee. Why they started with Lennon (forcing David Bentley onto the left) rather than Bale is a mystery.
Bent did not show the intelligence we are used to in attack from Berbatov, and also encouraged too many fruitless long balls from his colleagues.
Boro had enough chances to have punished Spurs further, including a opportunity where Alves missed, unmarked, just yards out. Who should have been marking him? ‘Taking the…’ Michael Dawson.
Ben_BKK - August 16th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Yes and Boro had a goal disallowed, because Michael Dawson was fouling David Wheater as far as I can see lol

Spurs sucks - August 17th, 2008 at 6:34 am
HAHA!!! You spuds are pathetic! If this is what it is to come when Berbatov leaves your pitiful team, forget top 4 finish, you will be lucky to finish above the top half of the table. Anyway, what is this about playing Bentley out of position? Ramos and he himself said he can playing both sides of the field. Wenger was right to sell his overrated and no talent hack.

i counted that boro had enouth chanches 2 wid dat match 5-1 o ye the only goal u scored was an own goal …….okay u can 4get top 4 finish arsenal bagzied dat spot lol
Geezer9999 - August 17th, 2008 at 8:40 am
So what happened to Tottenham 4thplace Hotspur?
Maybe you should buy back Keane and don’t let Berbatov leave, then maybe you might finish 10th again!
Haha, what a sorry bunch of fools you lot are . Every August you think you’re gonna win the league, maybe the micky mouse cup (milk cup or whatever its called these days).
