Benitez is reportedly continuing to chase this Polish international, but should he be aiming for a more established star?

Liverpool have more or less given up hope of signing Aston Villa’s Gareth Barry in this transfer window with a move now more likely in January and instead have turned their attention to two other midfielders.
The most likely target is Poland international Jakub Blaszczykowski, his club, Borussia Dortmund, do not want to sell but if Liverpool make a big enough offer the club will have no choice but to sell.
The Joe Cole may be a bit of a shot in the dark and the usual rumors in the UK press but the Blaszczykowski move may be more realistic.
He usually plays on the wing where his dribbling and pace come in handy but Borussia have also played him at right-wing back on a few occasions which will suit Liverpool. (footylatest.com)
£8m rated Kuba was one of the few positives to come out of a poor season for Borussia Dortmund last term as they finished in mid-table. Whilst he isn’t exactly a household name, and one who is very hard to pronounce at that, maybe he could be a gem that could be moulded to provide creative guile to the Merseyside outfit. However he would at least not be too expensive and at 22 has the potential worth investing in. Do Liverpool fans want to see Rafa buy big names or do they trust him to invest in stars of the future?
