Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is lining up a move for Mikael Silvestre.
Frenchman Silvestre has been told he can leave Manchester United and is being offered to Premier League clubs, with a move across the city his No.1 choice.
Hotline understands United are willing to let the defender go in a cut-price £750,000 deal.
Silvestre has been at Old Trafford for nine years, but he has fallen out of favour with Sir Alex Ferguson.
And the fact the 40-cap left-back can double as a centre-half appeals to Hughes. (The People)
This is an interesting development indeed and one that may or may not be what the Eastlands fans were looking for from their new boss. There is no doubt that the Frenchman has been a top-quality player but is he now past it? He could well be a bargain capture but after a long injury lay-off it could be a brave move to make. Sunderland are also said to be keen on signing the former Inter man. How would City fans feel about such a move? Do United fans think that Sir Alex should hold on to the player?
