Spurs to make SHOCK £15m striker bid: I think this one is paper talk!
by Mr Comfort on August 17th, 2008As Juande Ramos takes stock after a pretty poor display against Middlesbrough, reports have surfaced about a Tottenham bid for a Newcastle star!

Ex-Liverpool striker Michael Owen has been lined up as a shock replacement for Dimitar Berbatov at Tottenham, according to reports.
Tottenham bosses have targeted the Newcastle United captain to fill the boots of Berbatov boots, who is expected to move to Manchester United before the transfer window closes.
The Sunday Express says Tottenham have kept a close eye on Owen’s future on Tyneside and see him as an ideal replacement for the wantaway Bulgarian.
Owen’s career on Tyneside has been beset by injury but he did enjoy a good finish to last season. (Lancashire Evening Post)
£15m-rated Michael Owen has of course been plagued with injuries but still has a great deal to offer. He could still be a 20-goals-a-season marksman if he managed to not get sidelined and in many ways he is the kind of sharp marksman that Spurs could do with if Dimitar Berbatov does as expected leave for Old Trafford. Of course Kevin Keegan won’t want to sell but maybe the former Liverpool man will deem a move to north London a move up. After all there can be no doubting that Tottenham now have a fantastic squad and a great manager who should help them make a dent on the top six whereas work at pushing Newcastle United up the ladder is still ongoing however i do think this is just crazy paper talk, i am not sure he is the type of striker Ramos is looking for and it appears to be a deal Tottenham aren’t even considering so the Sunday Express (Where this story appears to have originated from) probably made up the story in the first place! Who do Spurs fans think that Juande should try to sign?

Spot on Mr Comfort (rarely enough), this is indeed just paper talk, The Express is even worse than the daily star! i think we should go all in for Santa Cruz

Yeah this was always going to be pure speculation, but i tell you what he would be a damn good signing. I know what you mean when you say you think he is not Ramos is cup of tea but he has the experience and pedigree and may still have something in the tank!

Owen is more injury prone than a granny who has one leg and can’t see! I think that says more than enough about him..

no chance why wud Owen go 2 a smaller club??? Stephen Carr now that might b more realistic he wud be another fantastic addition to ur team of (world class player)
buffalo61 - August 17th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Smaller club? I suppose that is why Chris Waddle, Paul Gascoigne, David Ginola, and Les Ferdinand moved from Newcastle to Spurs at the peak of their careers. And NUFC bought Carr from us. Know your history please.

Owen ,does he not have a buy out clause for 9ml .At that price and on a pay per play basis then yes.I think he would come well why stay at oldcastle with mister can’t take the pressure keegan suprissed he’s still there.

Plus Woodgate and Modric both turned down Newcastle to come to Spurs.
Ah, the bitterness.
Woody - August 18th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
when Owen is in good form hes a decent striker. but hes always injured and we dont need another player who, like Woodgate and King, are constantly on the treatment table. Why cant we just go for Huntelaar or Santa Cruz or just get the Arshavin deal over with?

ledley learn to play on computers like me your legs are fucked i hoped you would get better but it seems not .So do the proper thing and retire . it breaks my heart to not see you in a spurs shirt but you are stopping any other player comming . we need experince and the one person that could help us get the chumps league and would pay is boyhood club back is sol cambell i no he hurt all spurs fans but he could get back in our hearts and retire a happy man and give us some defence
