Liverpool gaffer Rafa B is a big Gareth Barry fan, that much is evident. The Spaniard has been stalking his quarry for the whole summer now, and such was his desire to nab Gareth that he offered Steve Finnan as a potential makeweight. Unfortunately, Martin O’Neill didn’t take the bait.

It’s about time we started reading about players linked with a move to Ewood Park, rather than away from the Lancashire club. Brad Friedel and David Bentley have already upped sticks, while Roque Santa Cruz and Stephen Warnock are both being linked with a move, despite playing an important role in Rovers’ 3-2 win at Goodison Park. Could there be a new face at Blackburn this week? [Read the rest of this entry »]

It’s been a decent start to Wolves’ season, after coming from behind twice to draw with Plymouth, and then going a goal down to Sheffield Wednesday before running out 4-1 winners. It’s clear that goalscoring isn’t proving too much of a problem for Mick McCarthy’s men, although they’re not proving too watertight at the back. The Liverpool saga between Rafa Benitez and the current ownership continues to rage on at Anfield. After watching his bid for Gareth Barry go from probable to almost impossible, the goateed-one appears to be on the offensive once again. There are just thirteen days left for the Red Devils to make their move in the transfer market and, despite thousands of column inches devoted to Dimitar Berbatov speculation, it seems entirely possible that Sir Alex Ferguson could land another striker instead. [Read the rest of this entry »]

Looking at the England Squad named by Don Fab on Saturday, I was in disbelief. I have been massively disillusioned by the national team ever since it became painfully obvious that Frank Lampard was not good enough, but was never dropped.
This squad is a farce, a joke of a seriously worrying degree.

Everyone accepts that the Premier League is no more than a four-horse race, with the likes of Tottenham, Everton and Aston Villa still a country mile away from challenging for the title. However, it’s already looking doubtful as to whether three members of the ‘Big Four’ can hack the pace this term, especially with Chelsea’s glittering array of attacking options under Phil Scolari.
