Arsenal fans - will you stop booing Adebayor now he’s signed a new contract?
by Dexter on August 19th, 2008The Independent reports that Arsenal gaffer Arsene Wenger reckons that the fans should support Adebayor now that he’s signed on the dotted line for the Gunners.
Wenger claimed that Adebayor should be given a break from the boos, even directing some of the blame towards the leech-like agents present on both sides of the negotiating table.
“We have to get behind him because he is a tremendous force and [is of] tremendous importance for the team,” Wenger said. “What happened in the transfer period did not always reflect his deep desire and there was manipulation from agents on both sides, but overall I am positive he will recover.” (Independent)
So will Adebayor be able to rehabilitate his image, or will he forever be the pseudo-Judas for whom loyalty only comes at a price…and will the Arsenal fans forgive and forget, or continue to boo?

Personally i’d rather not boo him if its going to get us 30 goals again this season, i’d hate to think we boo him and he does fuck all, all season because hes feels hated. id rather cheer him and hope his goals lead us to a trophy

Yes, of course. Who knows if Ade has said these things that was written in the papers?
Adebayor, Adebayooooor, Give him a baaaall, and then he will scoooore!

i think the papers are full of nonsense. they try to predict arsene’s signings because they want to look like genius’s as well. thats why every summer they name about 100 players that arsene is considering buying.

I think it is wrong to boooooo our own player, but he will have to score many goals until he hears the adebayor song again……..
Just a gooner - August 19th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
I think he got the boos he deserved, but as Robert says, it will be a long time before he hears the fans singing his name again.

i think by only coming out after it has all been resolved and denying these statements its completely typical of his character. always greedy and out for himself. thats why he always goes for glory and thinks hes gods gift to the premiership. kissing the badge after hes scored a penalty that Van Perise got an then saying that he hopes that makes us love him again. he can rot in the reserves for all i care. its wengers fault for keeping him instead of getting someone who can put the ball in the net at a ratio better than 1 of 6. and getting no other centre back and keeping gallas as captain! lol. look at how he reacted to djourou when he mae a mistake. scum, both of them. wengers too soft in some situations, and these two are examples.
why would i think bayor is all of a sudden this great guy who deserves our support because hes getting more money from us? i dont boo personally, and i think its counterproductive. but i hate the guy and gallas is a complete arsehole and we all know it.
p.s. get eboue out!

adebayor adebayor,
give him da ball,
and then ade will score!!!

It is stupid to boo your own player especially when that player is your main striker and will be vital to regaining the PL title. The Press/Agents are at fault here. “As I recall there were no statements from Ade that he wanted to leave, though he is at fault for not speaking out against there rumors as Fabregas did. This is minor compared to what’s going on at Manu with Ronaldo, who openly state he want to leave and join RM. We know the Manu you fans will welcome him back with open arms.

I think that all parties in this situation were justified for their actions. Adebayor undoubtedly had leverage after a good season to try and secure a new wage package, which he did. Arsenal had the option to sell him or give him a raise, and as a Gunner fan, I’m glad they kept him, because when he is in-form, nobody in the Premier League is a better striker. The fans will turn around and get back to supporting him, I wouldn’t be too worried about the reaction during a home opener against a minnow team like West Brom. You won’t hear anyone booing Ade at Emirates against another Top 4 club or Sp*rs.

There is no justification for booing an Arsenal player especially at our own ground.
OK so he deserved to be taught a lesson…..sing Arsenal’s name instead of his, that will make him sit up and think.
Gawd knows what affect that had on the rest of the squad. You know who you are - stop it, it’s not clever and it’s not funny….and yes I paid my £925 for my s/t, I want to see a game not listen to juvenile delinquents booing

I’m gutted he’s signed for longer, he’s a knob and can’t hit air with the ball.
