Spurs are monitoring West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand after the east Londoners rejected a £6million bid from Sunderland.
Tottenham sporting director Damien Comolli is a huge admirer of Ferdinand, the younger brother of England and Manchester United defender Rio.
West Ham are on a cost-cutting drive and with 22-year-old Anton having rejected a new contract, rival clubs are ready to move in. Spurs need defensive reinforcements even though skipper Ledley King is over his injury problems, though he was left out of the team beaten at Middlesbrough on Saturday. (Daily Mirror)
Apparently Anton would be available for a price in the region of £8-10m, and in today’s market, that is by no means an unfair fee. The West Ham centre back is a pretty solid customer on his day and Spurs will be looking for extra cover in their defence to back up the pairing of King and Woodgate. Michael Dawson doesn’t look reliable enough and, at 22, Ferdinand offers potential for the future.
The Hammers will not be happy about selling to their arch-rivals but if they are looking for cash, then they may have to sell to the largest offer regardless. Do Spurs fans think that Rio’s younger brother would be a smart signing and do Hammers fans think that their club is in real financial trouble? If so, who could they see leaving the club to help ease the crisis?

I’m the gunners but don’t waste your money for AF. Dawson are much better than AF. Look on the past Dawson got England called up either originally or back up often. AF only deserved for u-21 and not beyond that level.

Borat. I think you’ll find that Les is Anton’s cousin. Rio is his elder brother. I cannot quite get my head around the desperation that signing any of the Baby Bentley crowd signifies.

Anton is rubbish, but he does have bags of potential, the question is, can we bring it out of him? At this moment in time I dont think Rio would look good in our defence.
We need to bring in an 18yr old prodigy, or a 28yr old established CB. we need good cover that is reliable, or has desire. At 23 anton is not going in the right direction. I just wish we had kept Kaboul.

Borat, Apart from getting the Les/Anton relationship wrong(he’s his cousin), Les is a though and though Spurs fan and attends every game. He has as much right to his opinions as any of us. The difference is he knows more about the workings inside the club than any of us. And I dont believe he’s made any comments that are that far from the mark.
