Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is still hoping to sign Udinese star Gokhan Inler, according to the Daily Mail.
According to the Daily Mail, Wenger could now be set to make one big last effort to sign Udinese midfielder Inler before the end of the transfer window on September 1.
The 24-year-old has seen his stock rise over the past 12 months after a superb debut season in Serie A, following his transfer from FC Zurich.
Inler, who has been also been associated with a move to Liverpool, Juventus and Inter, is valued at €10m..
The classy schemer has stated on a number of occasions that he wants to stay at Udinese, but it remains to be seen whether or not he can resist a move to England, should an offer be forthcoming. (goal.com)
Inler performed adequately at Euro 2008, but not to the level that was going to make him an instant target of all the top brass of European football. Wenger is clearly a fan though and, if this is true and he is making that one last bid, I guess it will all be down to Udinese boss Pasquale Marino. He would have to decide if he would stand in the way of such a move, and whether he deems the bid to be fair for the Swiss international who greatly aided the Northern Italian side as they finished in a UEFA Cup spot last term. Do Gunners fans think that Inler is of sufficient quality to improve the players already in line for the central midfield position?

Wenger has to sign Bugduv in the next few days or he will end up at Chelsea. His manager Sergei Yulikov is believed to have met with Frank Arnesen. This guy is built like Obi Mikel and he is only 16. Reports about him going to Cork City in Ireland were mooted as part of a work permit process for three months but if he plays for Moldova in the World Cup qualifier next month, he should pass the 75 per cent rule soon enough

The signing of SILVESTRE to me its a goodnews because of his experience & versatality but he should step up his pursuit of GOKHAN INLER as he will no doubt perfectly replace the departed FLAMINI.

Gavbert Himona - August 20th, 2008 at 7:20 pm - 2 days behind everyone else as usual…………..Actually Gavbert it’s you that is behind. They have reported this story before and have only repeated what is in the newspapers the day previous or that morning. So maybe instead of acting thge big one and ending up looking like a complete retard you should choose your words more carefully and, nah forget it it, just keep your cakehole shut, do us all a favour eh!
