Liverpool are keeping tabs on Grenoble midfielder Sofiane Feghouli.
The 18 year-old midfielder has been a long-term target for Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez and the Premiership club may be forced into action with Inter Milan and Juventus also now showing interest. (tribalfootball.com)
The player himself has stated he believes his type of playing is best suited to the English Premier League. (goal.com)
£8m-rated midfielder Feghouli has been a prominent figure in the rumour sections of many papers and websites for about 18 months now. The club he represents, minnows Grenoble Foot 38, secured promotion to Ligue 1 last term. In doing so, even more speculation has arisen about a move for the French Under-19 international. This report suggests that a move may materialise soon as result of intense movement by the Italian giants Inter and Juventus.
Rafa has a fast-improving collection of young talents at the club and this skilful midfielder has been likened to the great Zinedine Zidane, due in the main because of his Algerian descent. With the Gareth Barry deal supposedly off, Benitez would have the funds for such a move and it could well be a wise investment for the future. Do Liverpool fans think that Rafa is building a team that could well become the nucleus of the next dominant era in the Premier League?

To follow the other ” legends ” , shall I name a few ? Le Tallec , Pongolle , Baros , Cheyreau , Hobbs , Traore , Diouf , Diao , and even our own Mark Kennedy . As i wrote a couple of days ago we have a better chance of signing Christy Brown of My Left Foot fame

Same old Same old. Over rate the player at a young age and ruin his career. I can see Rafa is trying to do the same as Wenger but the first team was always taken care of as well with Arsenal. Rafa needs to be allowed to get players that other top teams would want not players who are the next best thing etc.

When hyping players as the new Zidane there are two words of caution one must always consider - Bruno Cheyrou!!

All these players bar Hobbs were bought by Houllier and then sold by Rafa, at a profit I might add. We have beaten out a number of top clubs for a number of signatures for young starlets, Lucas was wanted by all the big clubs, Man U, Arsenal, Barca, Real Madrid, Inter, AC and we were the ones that got him. Nikola Saric was tracked by Barca and Inter and we got him, Lauri Dalla Valle was part of the Inter youth setup, Gerardo Bruna was part of the Real Madrid youth setup and Dani Pacheco was part of the Barca youth setup. Which proves young players are wanting to come to us and we are building something special for the future.

mr comfort, how much do you get paid for what you publish??
SimplyRed - August 21st, 2008 at 3:13 am
8M quid for the future. I believe the future should be now…the premiership assault must be mounted now and not tomorrow.
Zekk67 - August 21st, 2008 at 3:58 am
Rafa never paid millions for a future prospect yet, given that he is in need of money for other first team spots, he sure as hell won’t start now.

I hardly think Rafa is FORCED into a transfer as you say, unless the Grenoble chairman has got a gun to his head or kidknapped his children, but I think thats unlikely. I’m begging you to stop using annoying exclaimation/question marks and innappropriate capital letters in your HEADLINES……

Remember Bruno Cheyreau? He was the next ZZ! We need top players now not possible future stars. If we was going to get a future star, he would need to play every game to develop, not in the reserves or on loan. Long live RAFA!
Karim - August 21st, 2008 at 8:47 am
Im bored of all the stuff about building for the future.. why not build for now. Remember a time when Owen, Fowler, McManaman, Gerrard, Carragher, all teenagers playing in the first team. It seems now that we buy youngsters of the same age but they are not ready for first team football.. what is the point? I think Rafa does it to make a profit rather than integrate these players into the first team. It seems surprising that these players are being held back by their age. Id love to see Darby given a go at right back, Pacheco alongside Torres and Nemeth too. I think Insua should be our first choice left back, Dossena doesnt fit the bill or you can play him on left hand side of midfield as he is more attacking.

i agree with karim, you look at arsenal and they buy youngsters which they actually play. fabregas is only 2 years older than nemeth and is actually younger than el zhar. yet he started playing when he was 16. okay so he is in the highest class but still, for el zhar to start getting games when he is almost 22 is ridiculous. its clear he is better than all our other right wingers such as kuyt, pennant and benayoun. i say this because he actually has pace, skill, can shoot, and also cross. ngog, el zhar and babel should all start against middlesbrough cos they will inject more pace than benayoun, keane and kuyt.
ibby - August 21st, 2008 at 4:46 pm
rafa has a real eye for young talent and with the reserve team he is building a super team that is give time to gel together to improve team chemistry.future stars such as nemeth, pacheco, plessis and insua are flourishing under rafa and have proven their quality in pre season. this will be the future of liverpool fc and will dominate the EPL !!!
adam - August 21st, 2008 at 6:05 pm
the thing is… he is NOTHING like Zidane, the only thing that links the two, is there both french
COS and Mr comfort are both retarded!
daboy - August 22nd, 2008 at 3:51 am
If they think this guy is going to be better than say Man Citys Johnson than buy him otherwise get Johnson!!!!!!!!!!!
redeye - August 22nd, 2008 at 5:01 am
i like the idea of Dossena being moved to fill the “vacant” left half , if only as a temporary measure , and who knows he might be better there , with Insua at left back, and Babel up front, looks like a half decent attacking left side, just like the one Raffa is looking for !!
Bill_Oddie - August 22nd, 2008 at 6:19 am
You can’t claim Liverpool would be forced into this transfer.
Not like when Spurs caught Gerrard tapping up their captain at his wedding and at their training camp in Spain, and made the bin dippers pay 22m for a player worth a third that amount, or launch an FA enquiry where the Reds were guilty as sin and would have been fined and probably had points deducted.
Still laughing now at that one, so thanks for the memory.

Fucking Tom Hicks and Goerge Gillets. They don’t have money
to buy world class players. They have their fucking money for
buying many good players but not world class players.
