Rumours are flying wildly around with regards to a signing that could be winging his way to White Hart Lane to ease their defensive failings, but who is it?!

Tottenham are believed to be closing in on a central defender - but it’s not West Ham’s Anton Ferdinand. (The Metro)
There has been much conjecture in recent days about signings that Tottenham may or may not be making, and the defensive frailties that have overshadowed the excellent attacking play these past few seasons have made it abundantly clear that more is needed to strengthen the centre of defence.
Of course, Woodgate arrived in January and that was an inspired signing, but with King continually considered a tackle away from yet another injury and with Dawson failing to instill much confidence, who should the club turn to?
So, who is the centre back that Ramos is aiming to attract to White Hart Lane, and perhaps more importantly who do Spurs fans hope it will be?

we will sign arshavin on transfer day, i think our game is to keep hold of berbatov!
it has been stated that we will not sell berb unless manu match our 30mill valuation, which they wont because thay have just spent over that on tevez!!
…and also unless we find a replacement …so buy delaying signing arshavin it allows us to keep hold of berbatov. …then when its too late for him to leave and he’s accepted it ..we will anounce arshavin. this must be all agreed cos zenit have come out today and said that its now to late to buy a replacement for arshavin and that negotiations are stopping. …its all games but just might work …allowing us a lethal strikeforce of berb and arshavin ..beautifull! i think the hud can be moulded to play there no doubt!! dms aree hard to come by out there, i think the hud should be given the chance. i agree with this line up from the present squad we have! but we need more fire power and cover in defence!

Our board and management, surely aren’t stupid enough to try and keep BERBS…… He’s already stated that he wants to go and an unhappy player will be of no benefit to us at all…..
Yes, BERBS & ARSHAVIN would be a dream forward line, but it’s not going to happen…….
Would love to see CORLUKA & VELOSO come in for a bit of steal and the HUNTER for BERBS, although, by the sounds of it, MANURE are going after him instead of BERBS now. So we may well be stuck with him anyway…

Seem like Robbo is have his usual nightmares already and Gomez the giant look good. He was unlucky with the 1st goal against boro… (the one that counted) and a decent RB would have cleared the ball better than Zakora
DEFENSE
We are so desperate for a CB or 2, it is not funny…
Woody + King…. will not last a full season
Dawson still needs more experience…………
So why are we taking so bloody long to sign a Center Half
Is Dervette so up for the job, that he did not feature in 1 pre-season
Please tell me the Thud is not going to be a CB this season for us with Zakora at RB. Can anyone explain why Gunter did not play? He is a RB, right! And is ramos just training the team, by playing gunter at LB pre-season.
MIDFIELD
DM needed? Probably, but I think he wants the Thud/Zakora to play here, but we could do with a legend in this role. Ohara/KP to feature? Maybe Ramos would rather concentrate in other areas.
With Bale, if he can stay fit, should always be on the left before Bentley…. craziness… Bentley or Lennon… I agreed they are both class, but just play 1. Maybe it was a test in a throw away game against Boro… resulting in the fact that we NEED A LEFT MID COVER… OK, we have Ohara, Gilberto, Dos Santos… but what happens when/if someone stands on bale’s left peg and he ends up in the treatment room (hope not) again.
PS- bugger off all of you Jenas haters…. albeit a little slow to think (but a better decision-maker than Keano ever was) he the most tallented all-round player we have: passing short/long, heading, running, dribblingl, box-to-box, shooting far/inside the box. Not to mention he has just signed a new long-term contract and is our VC. So, support the bloke, because he is class and part of RAMOS’s plans…
STRIKERS
Everyone seems to think that we are gonna score as many goals as we did last time. However, the majority of our goals came from Berbs/Keane alone, Good business with Keano… but (hope i am wrong) Bent is not the player everyone thinks he is. So, what is the back-up plan? Where is the option of 2 up front????? If we are specialist at buying players at the right age, why are we not looking at players in the age group 20-25. Giovanni looks good but will take some time. Where is Perkart? surely he should have featured pre-season… Hurry up… window closing. YES - keep sulky guts, but BUT someone else. Hopefully not the 27 year-old arse-shaving bloke for his stupid name (although have not seen much of him).

Lets sign Kaboul from Portsmouth, Steed Malbranque and Chimbonda from Sunderland. That would add the depth, competition for places and bite we need in midfielder.
I really think signing Robbie Keane from Liverpool is what we need, he’s not only a proven premiership scorer but also creator.

a few thoughts :-
1. it seems to attract morons who can’t reason, spell, or know more than a few words of english.
2. current results may not be what the fans demand, but the club are in a great financial position considering the credit crunch. This fact alone will ensure the team success in the future - it’s useless building castles on sand! We need a bigger stadium, true, but we have a very astute business man at the helm. Trust him.
3. Players come and players go. None are indispensable, and none are bigger than the club.
4. The true fans ARE the club. Lose them and the club dies.
5. If Arsenal didn’t exist we’d have to invent them! Local rivalry stimulates the game and adds that touch of spice we all enjoy. Hate them? Of course not! Want to see them get beaten? YES
I’ve watched Spurs since 1955, and have seen both clubs enjoy success and suffer failure - but the rivalry has always driven, and given fun, to both sets of fans.

Why is it that the more abusive and unable to spell posters are, the more stupid their observations are? Is there a relation between not being able to string a polite sentance together and a lack of understanding of football?
I was disappointed we missed out on Cuellar, intersetingly Kompany played DM for Citeh last w/e. Hopefully, we will have Corluka + 2 strikers to replace Keane & Berbs. It would be nice to get Capel too as we haven’t had a left winger since Ginola left and not Lennon or Bentlry playing on their wrong side.
