Spurs to bid for excellent £34 DREAM TEAM!
by Mr Comfort on August 20th, 2008This source has claimed that Juande Ramos is all set to splash the cash from the expected Berbatov sale on this excellent new strike pairing!
Why not join the debate at the COS forum?
The Spaniard has been tracking former Manchester United frontman Forlan for the past month and is ready to offer Atletico Madrid £14million for the Uruguayan.
Forlan has claimed he is happy in Spain but Atletico have privately placed a £17million price-tag around his neck, suggesting Ramos may get his man.
And the Tottenham chief is also hoping to step up his interest in Paraguayan striker Santa Cruz despite Blackburn insisting the South American will not join the Ewood Park exodus.
Santa Cruz scored 23 goals in his first season in English football and with Darren Bent’s impressive pre-season form disappearing under the scrutiny of England assistant manager Franco Baldini at Middlesbrough on Saturday Ramos is increasingly determined to land his man. (Daily Mirror)
If this report is indeed accurate, then these two would form a feared strike partnership at White Hart Lane and will go some way for making up for the sales of Berbs and Keane. Forlan was of course a big flop when at Manchester United, but since moving to La Liga he hasn’t looked back, scoring 82 goals in four seasons at Villarreal and then Atletico Madrid (where he effectively replaced El Nino).
The Uruguayan would be keen on a Premier League return when he would want to prove his doubters wrong. Roque Santa Cruz obviously has had an entirely successful start to his career in English football and Paul Ince will not want to lose such a talented finisher, but he could find it hard to keep the White Hart Lane side at bay. The pair could well work together very ably as they offer different strengths and attributes.
Do Spurs fans think that this source is accurate or just making guesses? Also do they feel that such a partnership could well do the trick and where would that leave Darren Bent?

Santa Cruz - yes, would be great for Spurs. Forlan? not sure we’d need him - we have Bent, and we have Dos Santos, Lennon, Bentley….so save the money that would be spent on Forlan and get a strong center back and a good defensive midfielder. Then we’d be ready to rock and roll.
H0TSPUR - August 21st, 2008 at 2:40 am
Two weeks ago I was full of optimism as always. Spurs have played the waiting game far too long with Sulkatov he should have gone for 25m four weeks ago (they would have earned almost a million back in interest if invested wisely) - if this had happened we would have strengthened where it counts. Still no link to D/DM which i find utterly diabolocal (going off the amount of players we have been linked with I am certain that we are not actually looking for a DM)! A physical team is going to rip us apart every time. Why can spurs not see this?? Why can the board not see this?? Why can the manager not see this?? We should all chip in and buy Comolli some glasses and point out that we are players in white not red (if its a good turn out we could hire a hitman - or MJ might do it for free)!!! At the end of the season we will lose any player that shone this season to a bigger club - and they are bigger clubs!! We will be lucky to finish top half of the table unless 40m+ is spent over the next week on a D, DM and CF - and everyone knows it!!! But saying that, I would still follow Spurs in the championship - maybe thats the problem!! Lets face it Levy wants to sell, so he wont invest huge amounts - he will sell as going concern with lots of potential….. Potential - just another name for STILL CRAP!! Who would bet against Ramos being sacked this season in true Spurs style and the re-building will start all over again - It all makes me sick!!
CGI 147 - August 21st, 2008 at 3:43 am
HOTSPUR is obviously blind to the fact that Ramos is a winning manager and WILL bring success to the lane maybe not overnight but as you pointed out he is BUILDING a NEW squad so give him time not just ONE AWAY game to a club like Middlesbrough who always seem to beat the big clubs in the league MAN UTD 3-0 a couple of seasons ago!!! [boro were worse then than they are now]
H0TSPUR - August 21st, 2008 at 6:38 am
I aint blind, I am a realist. You can keep your head in the clouds and dream of that top 4 spot but it aint gonna happen. ramos wont be given the time. Even if he does well he will go somewhere else - lets face it, hes already admitted he only came to the lane for money “a financial offer made it impossible to turn down”. Any good player we have will at the end of the season will show loyalty to the champions league not the beautiful shirt of Tottenham Hotspur.. My comments are not based on one game they are based on the last 2-3 years.. Do you realise that if we do get Smoothbum that we could potentially have 4 or 5 Rebrovs as our main attack - you tell me that an impossibility - You cant!
michael keane - August 21st, 2008 at 7:12 am
Spurs have been building a new team since 1967 and its about time we had one, but as long as we have people at the club who only seem to want to build their own bank accounts, then we will be seeing the same things said ,written ,and done season after season.top 4 we are lucky to still be in the top division
Stu - August 21st, 2008 at 7:39 am
Supposedly Forlan has been priced at 30 million. I don’t think personally he’s worth much more than 10 so I don’t think this is going anywhere.
I’m starting to think that people think Spurs have an endless pot of money (we probably get lumped together with Chelski). I know the @rse down the road are having the same problem. People think that English clubs have endless pots of money just because we have the best league in the world (here’s another did you know… Five Live were saying yestereday that the Championship is the second most popular!)
Chris - August 21st, 2008 at 7:43 am
Forlan and Santa Cruz would be a great couple of signings, BUT we still desperately need a holding/defensive midfielder to break up the play and help out in defence. I think we should try and get David Albelda i know he is getting on a bit and out of favour at Valencia, but would be cheap and would bring a wealth of experience with him as well as some tough tackling and leadership skills
kris - August 21st, 2008 at 8:04 am
spure need to sell berba and buy villa!!
hertsyids - August 21st, 2008 at 9:05 am
the issue is that we keep getting rolled over by lesser teams cos we have no backbone, dawson aint good enough, king will never make a full season leaving just woodgate to run that part of the show…too much for one man, its a top class defender and holding mildfielder we need. Ramos/Levy this is the area that needs to be addresed FIRST
We have enough creative midfielders, and will create lots of chances, and will score lots of goals, but if you cant stop the other team, then you wont win games, sort out the main issues first Ramos/Levy, and the rest will come.
Its getting a bit like the England team, 40 years of hurt, 40 years of dreaming
Scouser tomas - August 21st, 2008 at 9:16 am
what are you talking about Indyfan?
Forlan can strike just as well as Santa Cruz can - yes, dos Santos, Lennon and Bentley are not strikers, they are midfielders, that wont score 23 goals between them in a season, when berbatov is gone where will the goals come from??…. invest on the south american duo and spurs might reap the rewards, dont count on ur midfielders to score
GunnerIndia - August 21st, 2008 at 11:04 am
Spuds can spend 17 mil for a 27 yr old striker who for me is a Manyoo reject and considering him being such a flop in the BPL means he cannot adjust to the english game.
u sold 2 of ur best players(berbatov is almost there) and now jenas and bentley say that ur gonna be in the top 4 hahahahha.
edwhitewell - August 21st, 2008 at 11:16 am
Agree with Hotspur the only thing we will be fighting for this season is to avoid the drop.
edwhitewell - August 21st, 2008 at 11:17 am
Oh! and Gunnerindia go fuck a cow.
Michael Kenneth Hodgson - August 21st, 2008 at 11:44 am
Its clear to me that Dimitar Berbatov is trying everything he can to get away from White Hart Lane, there is so much problems at White Hart Lane and that is why I think we had a bad start to the season!
We lost away and none of our players scored, we lost when berbatov came on and dos santos came off, we looked strong in the first half as dos santos looked full of pace and bentley had a chance to score.
Tottenham need to start a bidding war right to the end of august and just go all out on looking and signing players who want to play for the club, it was sad to see Robbie Keane go an unexpected leave, I also feel sorry for Steed Malbranque because he had done well for spurs too.
I think we need to find a good replacement for Malbranque, a couple of defeders, give cesar a go in goal as he might be the answer to our goal keeping chances. and a replacement for berbatov.
Amauri (brazillian forward)
Nicola Pozzi (italian forward)
Alexandre Frei (swiss international)
Valon Behrami (swiss international)
Tinga (brazillian midfielder)
Roberto Ayala (Argentina CB)
Sorin (Argentina LB)
This will surely be good players to bring to Tottenham, the key is for Tottenham to break into the top four is consistency with wins day in, day out. even against chelsea after sunderland. if not a draw will be ok against chelsea.
Michael Kenneth Hodgson - August 21st, 2008 at 11:48 am
Oh yes and this is a message to Arsenal fans, what happened to Thierry Henry?
YOU CRIED YOUR EYES OUT WHEN HE LEFT, LOL
Least we aint crying because dimitar berbatov is only one striker, he will find his match theres like 64billion footballers in the world!

Michael hodgson is an idiot, cesar in goal hahaha ayala is about 40 and frei is not far behind him i suspect this fool is a rusty iron fan. we need santa cruz jorge (espanyol) and albelda
Jorge Bollix - August 21st, 2008 at 1:31 pm
To Michael Kenneth:
Cried our eyes out you say? 64 billion footballers in the world you say? Sure, and spudsies are going to win the league this season. What happened with Henry was that his legs were starting to go and it was time to let him leave, what is happening with the sulky-bulgy is that he’s been trying to leave for pastures greener for ages but the stench of defeat from your joke of a club has forever tainted his supposed market value.
Paul - August 21st, 2008 at 3:40 pm
We will not meet Zenits asking price for Arshavin because he is at an age where after a few years his sell on value will only decrease plus he is not premiership proven, so why are we going to pay a simular amount on a player that is two years older and is a proven premiership flop, utter bollocks if you ask me, just yet another agent putting his player in the shop window!
the chief - August 21st, 2008 at 4:18 pm
BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a well placed source in spain who informed me, that camolli is in spain talking to Luis Fabiano representatives, apparently sevilla have accepted an offer thought to be 18.7mil. The deal is believed to be concluded over the weekend…
I will keep you guys updated as and when
Yid and proud - August 21st, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Don’t know why people seem to think we can sign Santa Cruz, there’s no way in a million years Ince is going to sell him……. this season. I’d love to see him at the lane but in all reality if Berba’s worth 30m so is he and i don’t see spurs paying that sort of money for him. Why would Blackburn sell their best player so close to the end of the transfer window? Undoubtably we need a striker (among others!) but never going to happen. But then again as Greavesy used to say “football’s a funny ol’ game”
davspurs - August 21st, 2008 at 5:52 pm
were the fuck as this concept come from about a defencive midfielder this is total bollock we ripped roma apart . And skill will always beat brute force the best player in the world is not built like drugba of chelski mr messi we need a settled defence that move up as a unit not players that play in midfield its simple keep the ball and use it well lose the ball defend and get it back then wen your defence is breeched gomes saves it that how simple football is wen you start putting lables on people that when it gets hard the burra played it simple three centre halfs One good midfielder good for burra but not very good for spurs downing a man who had narcotic problems in holland aleves a turkish none stop runner who was shite and all of a sudden is a midfield attaking defencive forward hybrid of all three player thats baffeling is ex club a 4 million dutch under 21 player as good as prince botang and last but not least a player that score a couple of goal slim and gets injured fat lets see how the play against a team with energy to spare and a settled defence and two strikers ramos played a team that was set up for a home game .This should have bean his team gunter king woodgate bale bentley huddleston ohara moderic berbatov bent subs dawson zakora dosantos gilberto sanches perkhart lennon

So poor club with always wasting of big money for poor acquisitions such as Darrent Bent last season and seem to be this season again with another flop. Go Gunners!!!
Yiddoooooooo - August 22nd, 2008 at 8:25 am
It makes me laugh when people get so annoyed that we haven’t signed anyone recently, its not football manager guys! u dont just put in a bid and within 5 minutes u have your man. Ramos and the board will be going for great players to improve the team but anyone worth having wont be an easy aquisition, teams always want to keep their best players so of course it will take time.
and Mohd Fauzi fuck off u bellend. nice name by the way
