Tottenham’s £28m wantaway striker could be here for the long haul: Manchester Utd have a new target in mind!
by offsidetrap on August 20th, 2008Dimitar Berbatov’s future at Tottenham has looked about as clear as a pint of Guiness most recently. After demanding a move to Manchester United for some time now, the sulking striker could now be getting the cold shoulder from his favourite suitor. Could Sir Alex really be turning his attentions to a certain Dutch striker instead?
Manchester United have stunned Real Madrid by elbowing their way into negotiations for Ajax striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar.
Marca says United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has stepped in to disrupt Real’s talks for the Holland international after going cold on Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov.
With both United and Real now battling for Huntelaar, Ajax are ready to sell with a genuine high priced auction looming. (tribalfootball.com)
Maybe the £28m price tag was a bit too much for Manchester United to handle; or maybe it was the fact that they’d had enough of Daniel Levy and his transfer antics. Whatever the real reason might be, it appears the club could be putting their transfer funds to good use by going after one of the best players in the Dutch league. Huntelaar has already been on United’s radar more than once this summer; however, the club’s rumoured interest seemed to be nothing than paper talk. With Real Madrid having already worked up a lather chasing the striker this summer, it appears United will try be forcing a late push to make him their lone signing of the summer.
What do Man United supporters think about the rumoured move? Would you rather have Berbatov or Huntelaar on the squad?

I reckon Huntelaar would be a better signing given his age… his goal scoring record is also something to behold… if he can replicate what Van Nistelrooy did then it will be money well spent!

MANYOO should have a transfer ban imposed on them after there disgraceful behaviour. Liverpool too over the whole Barry debacle. Maybe a ban during the next transfer window might make them and others stick to the rules.
Berbatov is a disgrace, my toddler is 2 1/2 and gets told off if he sulks like that. At least Keane was honest and handed in a transfer request. Berbatov hasn’t so that he can receive some sort of ‘loyalty; bonus on top of a large salary and contract.
Berbatov is top quality and unlike others mentioned he has proven himself in the Premier league. Kuyt and Babel loooked fantastic in Holland. Rebrov looked great in Russia and as for Veron, Forlan and Djemba Djemba… Berbatov was amongst the top 5 scorers and top 3 assists, despite sulking for 1/4 of the season. He would rival Torres as the top scorer if he played for ManU or any other club he wants to play for.
Berbatov do the decent thing, if you want to play at ManYoo hand in a transfer request and United pay the money and stop taking the pee.

fergie shud just get this whole thing over and dun wif and thats by either signing berba o say that he no longer wants him and concentrate on getting a striker that wud be easier to buy.personally i wud take berba over huntelaar as he has a bit of everything and that touch of sheringham/cantona,thats not to say that i wud be dissapointed if huntelaar was to come.but as an alternative why not get berba and look at pavyluchenko, looks like a raw version of torres and wif fergie ready to offload saha and doubts over manuchos permit then it wud be good to have those 2 to compliment tevez and rooney and loan campbell to hull for the season.
