The Baggies could argue that they got off to a decent start on Saturday by only losing 1-0 at The Emirates. While they have no points to show for their performance, it will have been satisfying for Tony Mowbray to see his troops keep the scoreline down to a minimum against a team who will bag plenty of goals on home turf this campaign. The Sun reports that Borja Valero could become the new hero at The Hawthorns after signing for close to £5 million. After losing Zoltan Gera to Fulham, it’s been clear that the Baggies needed to supplement the midfield area - can this player help them stave off the drop?
WEST BROM have splashed a club record £4.9million for Real Mallorca’s Spanish playmaker Borja Valero.
The 23-year-old former Real Madrid midfielder has signed a four-year contract and is expected to make his Baggies debut in Saturday’s Premiership game with Everton at The Hawthorns.
Valero’s agent Martan Paledes said: “Borja is very happy that everything has gone through and sees this as a great opportunity.”
Exciting news for West Brom fans - the manager has clearly spotted a player whom he believes can fit into the Albion ethos of playing flowing football, rather than relying on long balls pumped upfield. Will Valero take the Premier League by storm?

what is it with this particular site & Zoltan Gera? All i read is”we havent replaced him! etc etc” before i say any thing else, i think Zolt was exellent for Us, proffetional! he could’nt get in team until texara got injured! and before all u tunnel visioned premier watchers, probebly villa fans! say “who is he & how mutch did he cost”? you will soon see him and he only cost six! i remember your artical at the time”about jumping ship” that turned into a slanging match with fulham fans! i never knew they had so many? he could have gone in january but did’nt fair play Zoltan the great…so we sign a internatioal ex madrid 23 year old , and all you can say”replacment for Zolt” you keep thinking that lads,you might have to get your history books out,and read em! read up till just after Tom silk”chairman” at time who crashed his own plane into a mountain returning from a european game! yes a european game.. who took over,his brother! asit striped us etc etc even training ground! my piont is,where would we be now ? wihout that ancident? we were better than, all exept liverpool,forest …so dont act all ,” west brom smash transfer record” it was an every week acurance at the time… i can feel it returning!!!
