Just how tight are the finances at Newcastle!?!
by Dexter on August 21st, 2008First came news that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was scrimping over the suits of his players, making them pick up the tab for their sartorial needs. Next came word that Ashley hadn’t completed his due diligence and so was completely unaware that his team still owed instalments on several players.
Add to this the fact that manager Kevin Keegan and director Dennis Wise seem to be operating from different planets, and you have yourself a noxious blend of ignorance…
The latest news in the Newcastle United saga is that, according to tabloid paragons of truth The S*n, they have shambled over to Real Madrid, cap in hand, to ask for Argentine Javier Saviola on loan. And they don’t want to pay his wages either (!).
NEWCASTLE cheekily asked Real Madrid to take JAVIER SAVIOLA on loan but not pay his weekly £125,000 salary.(The S*n)
Are things really that bad at Newcastle that they can’t even offer to pay a slice of Saviola’s wages? Or are all funds being directed towards Little Mickey Owen’s new contract?

haha the daily mail and sun have it in for newcastle, they don’t like ashley and have spread lies all summer about him and the club all summer. Not a single one true. One minute we’re hard up, the next we’re signing a £10m defender. One minute keegan and Wise are working at opposite goals, the next we’re told they’re working fine at bringing quality into the club. Good players take a long time to get signed up when you don’t have european football, I expect alot of our transfer targets are waiting till near the end of the window to see if offers from clubs in europe come in before making their minds up. If they’re the quality of colocinni and Jonas I won’t complain at having to wait a little longer.

This is a terrible article based on nothing but tabloid bollox and your own opinion (no doubt not formed urself but borrowed from the ‘paragons of truth’ as u mention). There are four words that should have told u not to waste ur energy typing this: “according to the Sun”. Nothing in the Sun is true - i wouldnt even believe the date written on the front, it is the greatest work of fiction since the bible.
Get back to the Lane u southern ponce.

Aren’t the mighty AC Milan haggling over Shevvy’s wages if they take him on loan from Chelski - and that’s after flogging the lad to said Pensioners for a cool 30million just 2 years ago! So don’t pick on the Toon.

Hi,
Im a Newcastle fan all my life but i CANT HELP BUT SEE A GRIM FUTURE FOR OUR CLUB UNLESS WE GET REAL INVESTMENT IN THE CLUB. I believe we are paying the price now for splashing cash on terrible players in the past.
I think keegan needs to start flogging a few of our so called ” stars ” . Ithink they should do this in January and maybe bring in one or 2 players in January but keep bulk of the money for next summer. If we have a good season this season we could attract players like Joe Cole, Wright Phillps, who might be surplus to requirements at Chelsea) and maybe Ashton ( if he stays fit) and Anton Ferdinand and get our team back up to the big four where we belong
Love You Keegan you are a legend

Money isnt tight at Newcastle but our Chairman is being more careful with how money is spent.Weve just spent £10 million on an Argentine defender so the money is there but it isnt to be wasted like under the previous regime.

Crap article.. Vomitting up the same old ’sun’day dinner!
27m in player installments that are yet to be paid for one reason or another..
The money from european qualification this year should sort it out..

O M G Saviola has aleady said that no contact has been made from NUFC.
You really need to take a long hard look at your sources. The S*N indeed
Toon - August 22nd, 2008 at 10:43 am
Biased, poorly written and completely based on rumour.
Surely the signing of Coloccini for 10 million shows that things aren’t that tight.
If we even did make an offer for Saviola (the player himself said we haven’t), it is more likely that we weren’t willing to pay all of his wages. You are an idiot if you think we asked Real Madrid to pay his entire wages for the season.
In fact I think you are an idiot regardless.

I dont know why i even bother reading this rubbish - never mind responding to it. I really hope someone is not paying you to spout this ****.

The desperate plight of Newcastle United will be there for all of the country to see tomorrow when they fail to attract even 40,000 fans for a home game.
Season ticket sales are at an all time low (so low that NUFC dare not reveal the figures) and with no decent signings having arrived or being forthcoming, penny pinching Mike Ashley faces the prospect of seeing thousands of empty grey seats at the match tomorrow.

Preumably there’s nothing positive going on with whichever London team you support. Thanks for the interest in our club though. Why don’t you just admit that you love the toon and go and get yourself a black and white shirt. At least then you might keep up to date with what’s going on in Newcastle and your “articles” will be a little more accurate.

Somehow I don’t think Saviola would be interested in signing for Newcastle anyway…
Get Owen fighting fit with Martins up front I don’t think you would need him.

Yet another southern shandy drinking tosser! Keegan loves all of these stories though - it’s the old classic siege mentality! Let the southern media knock us all they want! If you stop being angy about it they’re actually quite funny! It’s only going to benefit us being the underdog!
David_Barber - August 22nd, 2008 at 11:58 am
Only came on here to see the obvious response - to the anti Geordie dribble! If it wasn’t for newsnow-my presents would’nt tar this path. Can’t be bothered to hunt for the odd Tottenham fan, to throw his two pennies worth.

Willing to put money on there being less than 40,000 are you?

I’ve been a newcastle fan all my life…I think they should sell owen because he’s too small and he can’t speak english properly….They should also sell keegan coz he’s a bit of a twat….
griff - August 22nd, 2008 at 4:12 pm
I’m a life long newcastle fan….I love newcastle more than my kids and wife…
I want to know why Sunderland are signing all these top players and we’ve stuck with owen who is only on 140k a week and plays 6 times a season…! Its a ********* disgrace, and think we should start a protest to get Ashley to stick his fat greedy hands in his pocket and sign some decent players….

Sensible approach for once at Newcastle United
Gone are the days of Sheppard telling all and sundrie we are going to sign Rooney or panic buys like Kluivert etc
The money is there, but they have to be the right players. Lets be honest Saviola would be a risk a loan deal with reduced wages is a sensible approach.
Happy days at the Toon with Captain Sensible in charge.
