Portsmouth boss lays into truly rancid England display…
by Dexter on August 21st, 2008England drew 2-2 with the Czech Republic yesterday thanks to a late Joe Cole goal, but even that couldn’t mask over a a stinker of a performance that was crapper than an old sailor’s arse.
Harry Redknapp, a Setanta pundit for yesterday’s Wembley kickabout, was less than ‘appy with England’s ropey performance, and focused in on the fact that Fab Capello was playing Stevie G on the left, a cardinal sin according to the Portsmouth gaffer. Redknapp let rip, saying:
‘That was one of the worst performances I have seen from an England team. What positives can you take from that?
‘The second half was diabolical. They didn’t look like the same players who perform week in, week out in the Premier League. What are we doing to them?‘We have one of the finest midfielders in Steven Gerrard, he plays for Liverpool and he is like Roy of the Rovers. He shoots, he scores, he tackles. He is not a left midfielder.
‘It is unbelievable. He has to be in the centre. We are killing Gerrard.
‘I came to Wembley full of optimism. We keep chopping and changing managers and we don’t improve.
‘I’ve not seen Fabio Capello teams play worse than that. The players did not perform.
‘If Steve McClaren had been in charge of that team there would have been uproar.’ (Daily Mail)
So where to go for Fab, the real games are approaching soon and England look limp and utterly dire. Can Fab pull their socks up before the press hordes savage England even more?

England were putrid. I would back the under 21s to beat them. They have not played well since Scholes left. He was world class in a really effective way. If you play a player like Defoe or Owen you need someone who can play the quick through ball to his feet. At the moment there is not the skill to do that in the team. Only Gerrard and Joe Cole are capable of beating a man, so the rest have to pass their way through a defence and they have not the skill and technique to do that. Beckham is past it. He was a great player for England in the past but that time is gone. But the real tragedy is Rooney. When he first came on the scene he was the greatest raw talent in England since Gaza. He was fearless with a really heavy shot. He has not progressed since going to Man Utd and Ferguson has to take the blame for that. He really needs to re-focus his game.

He had his chance to have his say when he turned down the job if he didn’t think he could do a better job then he should keep his mouth shut

Redknapp for England Manager!
Maybe he could negotiate a price with his fellow national managers for them to let us win. He’s good at persuading people with money on the side. We could be world champions!
Nobody cares what Redknapp thinks.
