Chelsea land new striker: Yes, he ticks the Brazil / Portugal box of course
by stresster on August 22nd, 2008 1 commentThere’s no rumour that the three flags set to fly outside Stamford Bridge will be that of Russia, Portugal and Brazil. However, there’s little doubt that when it comes to signing players, Big Phil Scolari wants them to be from a select group of two countries. Even better if your name is Deco and you’re a Brazilian who is now a nationalised Portugeezer!
The BBC report that the Blues have bolstered their attacking options by bringing in Fabio Paim on loan from Sporting Lisbon. With Deputy Drog injured and the likes of Pizarro and Shevchenko in a hurry to leave Chelsea, there’s a distinct shortage of attacking options despite the obvious wealth of the club.
Chelsea have agreed a deal with the Portuguese club for the 20-year-old to join on an initial one-year loan.
Very little is known about Paim, with some describing him as a winger rather than a forward. Which makes sense, seeing as the Portuguese seem to excel in producing skilful players rather than prolific strikers! Nevertheless, Stamford Bridge regulars should get to see him in action soon enough, even if it’s the Carling Cup or some of the easier Premier League fixtures.

i feel that it is not fair to all the players to have a 3 flags outside the building and only players from 2 countries. these clubs should try to keep their promises and be loyal.
