Liverpool consider £7m PAIR move
by Mr Comfort on August 26th, 2008It appears that a new addition to the Premier League would like to purchase a couple of Rafa’s men as Stoke City look to cement their place in the top tier.
Why not join the debate at the COS forum?
Stoke City have made a joint £7m offer for Jermaine Pennant and Sami Hyypia, although the former’s reluctance to move there is proving a major obstacle to that deal. Pennant is also a target for the Blackburn manager Paul Ince, although they have offered only £3.5m for the winger and Liverpool are holding out for at least £5m. (Guardian)
Stoke City fans must have been mighty worried as they headed into the break with a 3-0 deficit at the Reebok on the opening day of the season, but things looked a darn sight better when they secured a last-gasp win over Aston Villa on Saturday and proved some doubters wrong in the process.
Now Tony Pulis is after this Anfield pair, and you can see why he might make just such a move. However it does seem unlikely that either deal will bear fruit. It appears that Hyypia is still very much part of Benitez’s Liverpool plans and, although Pennant isn’t, I would imagine that the former Arsenal man wouldn’t consider a move to the Britannia Stadium if he can get a deal with Blackburn instead. Either way I feel that the three teams that have come up have all done pretty well so far and maybe they won’t all be heading for a swift return to the Championship.

BIG SAMI is too good a servant to LIVERPOOL, as for pennant he hasnt really proved himself at our level. but i wouldnt think he,d go to stoke. no offence.

Pennant has to go… He has no future at liverpool unless he starts producing good qualities in games when he has the chance. As for hyypia, he is old…. BUT HE STILL HAS THE QUALITIES TO REMAIN AT LIVERPOOL! definitely regarded as one of the best ever defenders at pool.

Don´t sell Hyypia!
He is one of the best defenders we have had at Liverpool!
Let him see out his contract, then reward him with a coaching job.
Cos he deserves it.
Sami will never walk alone!

sami hyypia will leave liverpool on his terms.for what he lacks in pace (in the fast epl) he makes up for it with class, determination, and intelligence.no disrespect to stoke city, but they arent even worthy of his left testes

penant plays like a headless chicken, runs runs runs and doest have a clue where he is going, if rafa can get him to stay out wide and just deliver crosses however then he isa useful tool, pennant no brain sorry mate

I think it would be better if rafa focuses on tonight’s match against standard because if we don’t qualify for the group stages he would lose his job!
Dario Cacopardo - August 27th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Rafa doesn’t not need to sell hyppia because he is one of the best defenders that liverpool ever had in their history but I think that pennant needs to go because there are much players at liverpool that are better than him!

i love sami he ought to get a coaching role but hes a bit slow now for top class side so sell him to stoke if he wants a regular game with the option of him returning as a defensive coach
