Newcastle’s Little Mickey needs to impress Fabio Capello on Saturday

It looks like little Mickey Owen is going to face trial by fire on Saturday, as he’ll not only have to test his mettle against opponents Arsenal, but know that Fabio Capello is following his every move from the stands at the Emirates.
The Daily Mail reports that Fabio Capello isn’t 100% sure about little Mickey and, despite the fact that the Newcastle striker has only just shrugged off mumps, the Italian wants to run the rule over him against Arsenal and will – in part – base his decision on how well little Mickey races around the pitch.

Michael Owen’s chances of an England squad recall for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Croatia will come down to a 90-minute trial in front of Fabio Capello on Saturday.

The Italian, who finalises his squad that night for his first competitive matches in charge of the England team, has switched his plans and will travel to Arsenal on Saturday to watch Owen play for Newcastle. (Daily Mail)

Fabio Capello is believed to want to name a provisional 30-man squad and then trim in to 24 over the weekend. As a result, little Mickey will have to be sporting his bestest scoring boots on Saturday.
