Tottenham hold out for £30m for Berba…How high should Man Utd go?
by Dexter on August 26th, 2008The battle for Berbatov looks to be coming to a head as the transfer window is only open for a few more days; and while the Lord of the Ferg clearly only has eyes for Berbatov, Tottenham are holding out for a huge wad of dosh.
The Guardian reports that unless the Lord of the Ferg raises his offer from £20m to £30m, maudlin moper Berbatov will be tossed into the reserves.
The game of brinkmanship between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United over the future of Dimitar Berbatov intensified last night when the London club indicated that they would be willing to consign the striker to the reserves rather than sell him to the Premier League champions for anything less than their £30m valuation of him.
Spurs, having rejected United’s opening £20m bid for the 27-year-old Bulgarian, are awaiting an improved offer but relations between the clubs are strained after Tottenham complained to the Premier League alleging United had inappropriately pursued Berbatov.
The Spurs manager, Juande Ramos, spoke with the striker on Friday and deemed him not “focused enough” to feature against Sunderland on Saturday, with an attitude that would not “be good for the dressing room and the team effort”. (Guardian)
All credit to Tottenham for sticking to their guns, but the horrible truth is that if Ramos is interested in spending any of that dosh, he is going to have to sell soon.

Geir - August 26th, 2008 at 7:08 pm
Not more than £25m for Berba. If Spurs want £30m++, we should buy Huntelaar for £18m instead
BringBackBananas - August 26th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
i am no spurs fan, but a fan of football. unless united offer 30million+, keep him and then do what you want with him. reserves, bench, play him, ban him from the training ground. whatever, he is under contract. you cant tell me it affecting the players minds that much? hell most of them dont give a shit which shirt they wear as long as they get their pay packet
every fuckin year the slimey cunts use their underhand tactics to get what they want by unsettling the player and the club until they are forced to sell
(see Rooney, Saha, Ferdinand, Hargreaves, Carrick to name only a few) and get away with it
Red0rDed - August 26th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
BringBackBananas - Aw what’s up mate? has somebody put sand in your vaseline? Get a grip you loser.
We should not pay a penny over £20M for Berbatov. I agree with Geir. We should give them the one fingered salute and go and get Huntelaar
spurfect one - August 26th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
well it looks like pavlyuchenko is coming to the lane bye bye berba
Spursking - August 26th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
RedorDeb - what a sad little mummy’s boy you must be.
I suppose you also think ManUre have a God given right to win everything and sign any player you fancy regardless of who the other club is. The Ronaldo affair shows just how fucking mercenary you all are. Mind you, you Manc scum bastards don’t like it when it happens to you though, do you. So fuck off and suck on your Mummy’s titties you stupid little fuckwit
Drew Vader - August 26th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
I’m sure Bananas supports a football club run by angels who are perfect in their conduct both on and off the pitch….
And if they pay over 25 it would be a terrible terrible decision. Let him stay spurs problem
BringBackBananas - August 26th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
the man who runs my club is on the run from a government but thats besides the point
if it doesnt go through it will teach both the player and the club a lesson. same with barry saga, if you want a player under contract that a club doesnt want to sell then your gonna have to pay over the odds
fair play to tottenham if they stick to their guns and hold out for what they want

Red0rDed - August 26th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
BringBackBananas - Oh Dear, you’re a bitter Blue. You see, that IS the point. All those years of hurt are hardly going to give you a healthy attitude towards the winners in the red of Manchester are they? I agree with you though, fair play to Tottingham if they stick to their guns. I kinda hope they do in a perverse way, just so that they get f*** all money and end up with Berbster thumping goals infor their reserves all winter before they have to sell him to Barca for about £10M in January. We can have Huntelaar
Red0rDed - August 26th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
8====D. You’re nearly as articulate as a demented baby chimp. I guess that you’re either a ten year old with behavioural difficulties or you support Tottingham. I’m not sure which is worse. Loser. You know that Tottingham is just a feeder club for united. Now give us Berbatov and shut the f***up
Red0rDed - August 26th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Spursking - Hey mate…why so serious? Hahahahahahahahaha
Geir - August 26th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
8====D?; It must hurt being a feeder club for us, heh?
BringBackBananas - August 26th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
my attitude towards united and their fans has nothing to do with my feelings on this subject. sure i do hold more contempt for you than any other team but not enough to be as cynically biased when i’m commenting on a issue that effects the game as a whole
in fact, u assuming that because i’m a blue, i care that much about uniteds recent success just emphasises my point about the arrogance of the club and its fans
but the arrogance at which fergie and benitez and their clubs, and the players involved, have gone about their business this summer is what i’m disgusted at, and it will be better for the game if both players stay put
RedorDed - August 26th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
i have had a change of heart i would like to apologize about my rude posts. I now realize i am a mancunian cunt who likes taking it up my whoopsie. all that rectum splitting makes my head go funny ,my bad.

im not a baby chimp!!!!!………im 16 year old chimp!!!! levycunt said he will leave berbacunt in the reserves if the jockfuk dont pay 30 mill!!! good….that will give me someone to spit at when i go watch them training…….i cant wait to kick the fukkin dago ghoulash eating sisterfucker in the nuts as soon as i get the chance……i will take off his hairband and tie up his cock so tight it will fall off thru lack of blood, then im gonna put it in a box and send it to the scottish cunt to suck on while he cries over his bottle of whiskey the fukkin jock tightwad…….Ronaldo only wanted to leave coz hes fed up having a sore arsehole from all the Fergifucking!!!!
all good fun i must say!!

red or dead everything you say sums up the attitude of you your club and its fans stupid comments like we CAN have huntelaar, give us berbatov, well just think if huntalaars club wants to sell to man utd i doubt it, u have no given right to have who you want. i suppose you force yourself on women when they say no or do u persist untill they give in……no because they keep saying no unless they want to so fuck off and leave us alone and you can have the fuckin sad bastard berbatov cos he aint worth a wank in my book anymore son….
Louis Haha - August 26th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Riggers - are you saying that he WAS worth a wank before?? Ha ha ha. Have you got something you want to get off your chest? Look, you being gay is nothing to do with what’s being discussed here, and what’s all this about forcing myself on women? Get a grip on yourself. Have you been sniffing glue?
give it up - August 26th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
MAN UTD KNOW THEY CANNOT WIN THE PREM . LAST YEAR CHELSEA HAD A SHIT MANAGER LOTS OF TROUBLE AND ONLY MISS OUT BY 1 PIONT AND A PENALTY IN CHOMPS LEAGUE. THIS YEAR THEY ARE SORTED AND WILL WIN PREM. I THINK YOUR BOARD KNOW IT , SO ARE SAVING THERE MONEY.
WITH BERBY YOU HAVE A SLIM CHANCE, WITHOUT NO HOPE .
SO WHO ARE THE FOOLS ! PAY UP OR SHUT UP ! ALL HONOURS ARE HEADING TO LONDON. NOT SPURS WE CAN ONLY WISH FOR A CUP. YOU ON THE OTHER HAND WILL BE VERY UNHAPPY WITHOUT TITTLE. ALL OVER 5 MILLION QUID.
PS ONCE LONDON CLUBS INC THE ARSE GET IT SORTED. NORTHEN CLUBS WILL BE F”"KED. NO ONE WANTS TO LIVE THERE. THE TIDE WILL TURN .. UP THE YIDS,,, WATCHING BERBY IN THE RESERVES WILL BE CHEAPER AND FUN.. CANT WAIT
spindle - August 26th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
If Berbatov rots in the reserves, that is spurs problem, not utd’s. Despite all the ABU’s and begrudgers here and everywhere else, utd will march on!
Fergie’s mastery was good enough to win the league 2 years ago with an inexperianced and very light squad. Last year was legendary!!! And now the squad is maturing and Ronaldo aint goin nowwhere…need I say more!
As for ye spurs supporters, two games in and the cracks are already showing, another season in the minnows for ye. Maybe that is why ye are so bitter!!!
Louis Haha - August 26th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Give it up - “ONCE LONDON CLUBS INC THE ARSE GET IT SORTED. NORTHEN CLUBS WILL BE F””KED”
You spurs fans are so desperate that you have to bunch yourselves in with Chelsea and Arsenal. The only facts you stated there are that we won the Premier League AND the Champions League last year (something beyond the dreams of Tottingham fans), everything else was your hopeful prediction. And what do you mean nobody wants to live in Manchester? Berbatov does. I’m just not sure we want him to, though. lol
BLUES - August 26th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
SPINDLE THAT IS WHY YOU DREW AGAINST NEWCASTLE AT HOME AND JUST MANAGE TO WIN AGAINST PORSTMOUTH,YOU WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR WHEN RONALDO LEAVES, YOU WILL BECOME A CRAP TEAMhahahahaha
S4E - August 26th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
louis HAHA,IF YOU WANT BERBA YOU HAVE TO FORK OUT 30MILL OR ELSE FERGIE CAN FUCK OFF TO MANURE
spindle - August 26th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
“Give it up” - if you think the league is pre determined, you are some stupid individual! And obviously you know sweet fuck all about football; just another begrudging blinkered supporter.
If Eduardo didn’t get injured when he did last year, the gunners would have been very hard to catch. Yes Chelsea will pose their usual billion dollar threat but it’s nothing UTD haven’t seen before. May the best team win!
“Blues” - Don’t be surprised if Ronaldo stays at UTD next year on an improved contract. We have lost big players in the past; don’t think for one minute that utd can’t buy players to replace Ronaldo, especially with the transfer kitty his sale would generate.
As for utd’s “poor” start to the season, cast your memory back to this time last year. I think I remember Utd down in 17th position, the same year we won the league and became champions of Europe.
All in all, with or without Berbatov, utd will be their usual menacing selves this year and hopefully can pull one more out of the bag!
riggers - August 26th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
i ask if there is any excitement being a man utd fan winning things year in year out.most of my freinds who are man utd fans dont really seem that bothered wen they win things mind you most have never been to old trafford i have to tell them about there fans who are mostly tourists taking pictures and dont sing a single song..although to be fair the european games are slighty better perhaps the real fans get to those games? being a spurs fan id like to think there is a bigger element of excitement at our club and makes it all the more special when we do win something maybe im wrong but we could all support man utd if we choose to but im a sucker for punishment and love it…man utd will march on spindle but for the sake of football try to do things the right way or your big football club that you support will bring the whole thing down the toilet.dont u look at the scottish league and think how shit that is….well we aint far of that with the premier league just remember without the so called smaller clubs man utd would not be where they are today! coys
Red0rDed - August 26th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Blues - Two titles in fifty years and never a European cup. Hmmm. So we’ll be crap if and when Ronaldo departs. We were winning Premier Leagues when Ken Bates bought your club for ONE POUND. Oh how you wish you had history
BringBackBananas - August 26th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
yet more arrogance and ignorance from a united fan
citing chelseas “billion dollar threat” when the fact is, apart from the 2 years chelsea won the title, united have outspent all their premiership rivals and are set to do so again this year if they sign berbatov
last year it was 48million on nani, anderson and hargreaves
and then close to 60million on tevez and berbatov
and just to burst your bubble on the berbatov comment, how is it spurs problem? he is under contract and if he doesnt get his move he is going to have to put his arse in gear to stay in the shop window otherwise the big clubs like barca will lose interest. so they either let him rot as they dont need the money, or they get a world class striker back in their first team
IsaacB25 - August 26th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Blues u dont know nothing u prat!! UNited all the way are talent and squad depth is too ahead of urs and with the new addition of Berbaking we will be unstopable. UNITED 4 the TREBLE!!!!!fuck off u blues another trophyless campaign staring down at u West london dickheads
Red0rDed - August 26th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
And which bit of that is United’s problem? We just want to sign a striker. There are more fish in the sea than Berbatov and why should we give a toss what happens if we don’t sign him. I would be more worried if I were Daniel Levy than if I were David Gill right now (but I’d be even more worried if I were that Lady-boy lovin’ thieving f***er in charge of City)
spindle - August 26th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Hey bananas, your billions don’t come from success on the field - if we have money to spend, we deserve it.
And my point about it being spurs problem was the fact that Berbatov was not on the field when ye lost the other night. Now you tell me how that is not your problem?
If ye get him back to his best, then fair play. If he rots on the bench, that will be nobody else’s problem but spurs.
Red0rDed - August 26th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
BringBackBananas—> I know this is a little off topic….but what’s it like supporting City. God, it must be really, really shite. I know you rarely have any choice in who you support, it’s instilled in you from an early age….but God, to know that your team are gonna be struggling, struggling for probably all of your natural life. That must be like 50 years hard labour. The last decent striker you had was, like, Dennis Tuart. Oh my god
DevilMan - August 26th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
Relax guys. Why you fighting with london teams?
Deep down Chelski & the Arse know who the top
dogs are & know who they need to finish above to win
anything. We are League Champions & European
Champions AGAIN. They can’t stand the fact that
yet again Fergie has built another great side & that they
won nothing AGAIN last season. If Berbatov becomes
a red he’ll be the new Cantona & we will win more
trophies again, without doubt, if he doesn’t, we will still
win trophies because that’s what we’re about. It’s not about
having the God given right to win them it’s just about
having the best squad & knowing how to deal with them
& rotate them at the right times. it’s about having a manager
that is a Winner who turns his players into Winners.
There really is no need to lower ourselves to their insults.
You must understand the jealousy they feel towards our
fantastic team & us. It’s a natural reaction.
DevilMan - August 26th, 2008 at 11:36 pm

Bananas? Yr take on the berba saga is similar
to how a certain team treated Mr Jol, I recall by
brining in Ramos. As for the players they’ve signed
since would you say they do anything different to
that any club does? Doubt it. Arshavin springs to
mind.
Riggers? For your information we don’t force ourselves
onto women, they force themselves onto us cos we are
happy every season unlike some & they can’t resist our
endless grin.
Spursking? We’ll suck on our mums titties when we’ve
ALL finished with yours mate, yeah! Fuckhead!
BringBackBananas - August 27th, 2008 at 5:12 am
RedorDed –> shite? not really. emotional? yes. and no i didnt get a choice, it was instilled in me at birth and i dont really regret one minute of it. but that is not something i expect supporters of any other club to understand so i dont see how it is relevant
i find myself slightly concerned about where the money is coming from to finance our progression but with the players coming through out academy and the quality of the young players the club is bringing in on long contracts i am not worried about the long term futire of the club as much as the media are. and with the football we tried to play for the most part of last season and the beginning of this, i am quite enjoying it!
despite what most united fans like yourself would believe that my first worry at 4:45 on a saturady was how them across the road got on
anyway, i digress from your original post… it is not uniteds problem, and that is my complaint. they have gone about their tranfer business in an unfair/ungentlemanly/unsporting (however you want to put it) way. and have don ethis many times in recent seasons with afore mentioned players and should by whatever means be made to suffer by the game
my upset is as much about the players involved as it is about the clubs, as the greedy fcukers signed the contracts and took the money whilst wanting to be somewhere else, and the clubs should make them stay or recieve over the odds transfer fees
BringBackBananas - August 27th, 2008 at 5:26 am
spindle –> (and devilman) please dont confuse me with being a spurs fan!
i actually mentioned in my earlier post that the current crop of spurs players shouldnt be mentally disturbed by what is happening to berbatov, so it shouldnt affect them
but he was not on the field because of his head being turned by united interest, and that has been caused by uniteds unsporting behaviour. no, it is not uniteds problem, but it is a problem for the rest of the league. that is my point!
and whilst i agree with you sentiment that every club should be allowed to spend what they earn, you cannot say that every penny united have spent over the past 15 years has come from prize money?
spurster si - August 27th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Chelsea have / are reinforcing their title hopes by bringing in more good signings and getting rid of dead weight. If Man U are to have a decent chance at winning the premiere leauge you’ll need berbatov and I’m sure we’ll take 29mill and it ain’t like you guys can’t afford it. Premiere and champions leauge winners aren’t short of cash. He’s just been tight. try to think of it as 1mill a goal and he’ll be almost paid for by this time next year. Oh by the way, please don’t make out that Huntelaar would be anywhere near as good, because he won’t even come close, the guys not in the same leauge hence the price tag! I’m just praying that we don’t end up with him after berbatov is gone.
