Stoke close to landing Ivory Coast forward: He looks tall enough to get his head on those throw-ins!

It was three points in the bag for the Potters last Saturday after beating Aston Villa 3-2. The Potters combined hard work, neat passing and some (ahem) direct play to claim victory, and it now appears as though they’re about to increase their attacking options.

Setanta report that Kanga Akale, a player who most of us don’t know the first thing about (he’s Ivorian, that’s a start) is on the verge of signing for Stoke City. It’s a little-known fact that Tony Pulis is only interested in signing players who are 6 feet 2 inches or taller this summer, especially going forward when they’ve got to try and get their bonce on a long throw-in from Rory Delap.

“Stoke are interested, yes,” Boli told setantasports.com.

“They want to sign him before next Monday, that’s the plan.

“It would be a loan, with an option for a transfer next summer.

“I think there are good chances this deal will happen.

“Plenty of German clubs are interested in him as well, but I can tell you that he is attracted by The Premier League.”

It finally appears as though Stoke’s hard work in the transfer market is paying dividends, with yet another body set to arrive before the transfer window shuts. Will this be enough to ensure that City have a fighting chance of staying in the Premier League this season, or will they still end up back in the Championship next season?
