Everton set to land Nigerian striker on loan
by stresster on August 28th, 2008Yobo and Yakubu have been great signings for the Toffees and it now appears as though another Nigerian will be playing in a blue shirt this season. David Moyes has been frantically trying to draft in some high-quality players and it appears that he’s struck gold as far as this Inter Milan forward is concerned.
Setanta report that Victor Obinna is poised to link up with Everton on loan, after being told by Jose Mourinho that he was unlikely to figure in the first team this season.
The 21-year-old striker was told when he returned from the Beijing Olympics he would not play on a regular basis under new boss Jose Mourinho.
As a consequence, the Nigeria international is believed to have accepted a loan proposal from the Merseyside club.
Obinna, famous for his pace, made a name for himself in Italy with Chievo, before moving to Lombardia.
Everton chief David Moyes could secure a loan deal for the African starlet as he sets about adding to his squad.
Is this the sort of player that Everton need? Or will he just be another attacking option, alongside Anichebe and Vaughan? Should the Toffees instead be looking to buy a couple of central midfielders?

Men! I’m an Arsenal Fan & I’ve always wanted Wenger to sign this guy because of his pace, skills, Accuracy & power but it seems Wenger isn’t looking at his direction. I’ve known this guy since early 2003 & I’ve also watched him play several times.
He will be a good loan deal for Everton because this guy has never let me down once. Everton fans should pray that this loan goes through because he is far better than Anichebe & Andy Johnson. Only the Yak will stand slightly tall beside him.
