Spurs line up £45m fantastic TRIO: TWO Great, ONE Good!
by Mr Comfort on August 28th, 2008According to this source, the spending at White Hart Lane isn’t over! Juande Ramos is still looking to sign these three top quality players!
Why not join the debate at the COS forum?
Tottenham will turn their attentions to signing Ajax striker Klass-Jan Huntelaar once they have secured the transfer of Spartak Moscow’s Roman Pavlyuchenko.
Spurs agreed a deal worth around £16million with the Russian club on Tuesday night and are determined to add at least one more forward - with the Holland international top of their list - before the transfer window closes on Monday.
Pavlyuchenko has been on Tottenham’s wanted list throughout the summer and the Russia star has pulled out of Spartak Moscow’s Champions League qualifier with Dynamo Kiev to finalise the switch.
The club are also making a major push for Huntelaar and haven’t given up on Zenit St Petersburg’s Andrei Arshavin and Vedran Corluka from Manchester City. (Mail Online)
So it seems, to this source at least, that Tottenham are looking to spend even more money. However it’s not as crazy as it seems; most of what the club has spent this summer has been covered by sales as Ramos has played the transfer market very intelligently. If the club opts to sell Berbatov, then that would bring in around £25m which would definitely cover one of the two strikers and maybe Corluka as well.
Of course the Daily Mail may just be feeding speculation but with Roman signed up, things do look better for the club that was dependent on Darren Bent to spearhead the attack. Even though he had a great pre-season, playing up front on his own has proved problematic over these first two games. Do Spurs fans think that the Mail is correct and that all three of these targets could come to the club?

I hope we still get Arshavin and Corluka but Huntelaar seems out of reach to be honest.
Look After your Car Mate :P - August 28th, 2008 at 8:27 am
The Russians are coming, Corluka is needed, as is Veloso and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them @ WHL. Here’s hoping Andrei and Roman have as much impact as Ossie & Ricky did!

MEH
Believe it all when I see it.
Im still unsure on the `sneaky fucking russians` but ill stand by ramos for the time being!
Get Huntelaar! Forget Corluka, and look at De Guzman

I wonder if you have noticed that your e-mail address HAS been published! I would not be happy if it happened to me.

When I scrolled down to leave a comment, all your details were still in the boxes.
Scorpion - August 28th, 2008 at 8:36 am
In order of importance get: Veloso, Huntelaar, Corluka, Arshevin.
And the more I see him the more I wish we would sell our almost captain Jenas. I trust Ramos but he sees something I don’t. If Jenas had Bebarto’s natural ability he would be a god because he works his socks off but he is simply not top drawer. Frustrating to watch him and if we get Veloso, where does he play??
Bristol Spurs - August 28th, 2008 at 8:43 am
We have not actually spent that much as Spurs have sold loads of players. Only £3m net spend so far. I am appauled that the management have not sorted this out before Ramos’s famed pre season conditioning. COMOLI again must answer some questions like; why do we pay him.
The squad has less than 20 1st team players, many not given squad numbers. So we assume that there must be at least 6 more squad members to come.
2 or 3 forwards, 1 DM, 1 LW and 1 CB / flexible defender.
Huntelar would be a dream signing, but I suspect will reamin a dream.
Pavel is on his way and hopefully Arshavin. Need a young hungry stiker too, who is happy to bide time and discourage any complacency.
DM; Velso would be great, also very impressed with 20 yo Standard Liege’s Fellani over 2 legs against Liverpool. Big, strong in tackle, great engine and good passing and reading of the game.
Capel and Corluka would complete an awesome squad that could break top 4 despite 6 point head start for other teams.
Neilos - August 28th, 2008 at 8:44 am
We need another Russian speeking man or he won’t settle!!
CarloSpur - August 28th, 2008 at 8:47 am
I really think we need a Senna or an Albelda in the team lads. We need that solid no nonsnese mid fielder so Jenus and Modric can push up and the back 4 feel a bit more protected. We have all the youthful players, we now need some experience and an older head on the pitch.
Huntelaar wont come to Spurs. If he leaves Ajax it’ll be for a top 4 club.
Pavlechenko may be good but then Rebrov was supposed to be the man when he turned up too!!!
Do we really need Arse-shavin?? - We already have enough attacking midfielders and by all accounts he has a big ego. Do we want another one of them as well???!!!
Spurticus - August 28th, 2008 at 8:53 am
The Mail is not to be trusted on ANY of it’s so called ‘news’ stories.
You only have to look at all the recent bollox speculation that they have spouted to help fill out their newspaper & website.
Anonymous - August 28th, 2008 at 8:54 am
Bristol Spurs, why do you say we have not spent that much money, to my mind we have spent around 40 million maybe even a bit more. Do you believe that is “not that much”
denboy - August 28th, 2008 at 8:57 am
Just because we recouped a large amount in sales this season does not alter the amount we spent. The bottom line may well be that we recouped what we spent, but we still spent it, otherwise we would have 40 mil sitting at the bank
Ryan - August 28th, 2008 at 9:01 am
I think the intention for a while was to have both pavyluchenko and Arshavin as they play well together and with the creativity and quality crossing we already have,I think there will be many goals, Do not think Huntleear has even been a name the board are looking at to be honest so that is doubtful. Corluka should join, for some reaso as good as defenders are there always seems to be one or two injured at any one time so he will add more of a solid look to that department.
marcus - August 28th, 2008 at 9:04 am
i also thought fellani was very good last night, i dont think huntelaar will join us especially as monday will see us bottom……..im a little confused why we havent signed a fwd. keane left 3 weeks ago. and even when pav signs thats 2 strikers. what if theres an injury…be back to one…very odd…i must confess if portsmouth pick up albelda for peanuts i wont be pleased. watching clips of ashavin seems to tell me hes a left sided midfielder anyway…
matty - August 28th, 2008 at 9:05 am
I think we should sign
Pavlyuchenko (12m); Huntelaar (20m); Arshavin (19m) Falcao (7m - bargain!!); Veloso (18m) and Corluka (7m)
TOTAL 83m
SELL Berbatov (30m); = OUTLAY of 54m considering our books are currently balanced!
get rid of some of the below or all if we can!
Bent (10m); Zokora (4m); Boateng (3m); Ghaaly (2m); Rocha (1.5m) Akotto (3m) Lee (gone) 1.5
TOTAL 25m
Thats 83m outlay and 55m coming in
NET 28m
LETS DO IT!!!!

Scorpion - August 28th, 2008 at 9:09 am
“We” spent, “we” would have 40M sitting in the bank. So when are “we” going to the bank to withdraw said funds that belong to us? I get a kick out of people that talk like it’s their money. We balance our books so why do you care how much “we” spend? If you ever understand that we are the mugs that pay the exorbitant salaries of these pampered babies, then we might be getting somewhere. I’m not holding my breathe though.

denboy - August 28th, 2008 at 9:24 am
We, as in Spurs, or was that too hard for you to understand. I will say however I totally agree with you on the, “exorbitant salaries of these pampered babies” bit of your comment
spurs fan - August 28th, 2008 at 9:27 am
matty that team would be unreal, and at last someone puts bentley on the right were he can actually play
Weymouthyid - August 28th, 2008 at 9:30 am
Definately must sign Arshavin alongside Pavyluchenko, not only for his ability but this would certainly increase Spurs popularity in Russian quarters and potentially increase revenue from that area, also agree we need Veloso and Corluka, Drenthe too would be good, can’t see Huntelaar happening but stranger things have happened after all we have made some great signings in the past like Attouba, Stalteri and Rocha.
Weymouthyid - August 28th, 2008 at 9:31 am
matty, forget the back four as they are bound to be injured all at the same time at some point
matty - August 28th, 2008 at 9:35 am
that team is possible to assemble; however I do think we need to employ ‘delboy’ and ‘arfur daley’ to peddle our deadwood!
theres 25m quid sitting there! …potentialy! (have portsmouth & sunderland got any funds left?)
Bent (10m); Zokora (4m); Boateng (3m); Ghaaly (2m); Rocha (1.5m) Akotto (3m) Lee (gone) 1.5
matty - August 28th, 2008 at 9:37 am
corluka can play anywhere across the back; veloso and hudd can also play CB and Gunter can play in the middle too! …thats quite a bit of cover
Weymouthyid - August 28th, 2008 at 9:42 am
Can’t see us paying 1.5m to get rid of Rocha, but definately agree with the rest, although Bent could be a good sub as he manages to confuse everything when he’s on
harryspurs - August 28th, 2008 at 10:08 am
GOMES
HUTTON WOODGATE KING BALE
VELOSO
BENTLEY MODRIC DOS SANTOS
ARSHAVIN
HUNTELLAR
THIS TEAM FOR HOME GAMES. REPLACE DOS SANTOS WITH HUDDLESTONE FOR AWAY GAMES AND PLAY HIM WITH VELOSO WITH HUDDS HOLDING MID AND VELOSO DEFENDING AND PUSH ARSHAVIN OUT TO THE LEFT.
YID! - August 28th, 2008 at 10:08 am
Buy both Russians, both internations so they have played together and so will play better when at Spurs. Need another defender 9 million for Corluka should be fine.
Weymouthyid - August 28th, 2008 at 10:16 am
Get Corluka stick him in the middle of defence with Woody, push King forward into holding role (when and if fit) as he’s done it well for England before, he may be happier there and not get drunk all the time and injure himself
Fearon - August 28th, 2008 at 10:23 am
Just wanna say to you Spurs fans, all the stick you gave us Liverpool fans when we signed Robbie Keane about how shit he was and how you would take 4th from us. Face facts, Keane is shit so well done. Now you just need to admit that Ramos has made signings with a view to making profit and the balance in your team is more fucked up than ours! If you make the top 6 i’ll be very Very surprised!
davspurs d - August 28th, 2008 at 11:21 am
THE SCORPION . THAT IS A MOUTH WATERING TEAM AND A TERRIFC BENCH BUT THE MOST THING I WANT IS THE NEW TESTERS DUE IN 2009 ARE A LOT BETTER THAN UK SPORT IT NO SUPRISE THAT A TEAM REPORTED IN 2OO6 FOR A ENERGY SUPPLEMENT ARE WINNING IN INJURY TIME. COYS

COYS
AussieYid - August 28th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
The player I really hope we get our hands on is the Columbian international Falcao from River Plate. He has an eye for goal and is strong and fast as well as being very creative..
He will have us all thinking why did we want to keep Berbatov. This player I can put up there with the likes of Klinsman and Lineker and he is only 22 years old.
Unfortunatly if we do sign him and he plays the way he has been playing, he will shine for us and the likes of Manure and Chelski will come in with their big cheque books like they did with Carrick and now Berbatov and unsettle the team.
D.Real - August 28th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
FALCAO …FALCAO…FALCAO… IF THERE IS A GOD PLEASE LETS BRING HIM IN!!!
I really dont think we should spend that kind of money on Arshy,,i get a rebrov feeling about that guy…Falcao will do a much better job, please check this guy out on you tube his amazing!
And guys please give bent a break, im tired of hearing ppl slaggin him off all the time, the man has scored goals for fun at a team like charlton, and lets be honest his been keeping the bench warm for ever and not everyone can always come off the bench and make things happen..once he gets a run in the team (not playing as a lone striker) he will be knocking on englands door again mark my words. I remember when keane first came and ppl was slaggin him off too as he was always on the bench and eventually he got a run in the team and he took his time but he got there in the end, bent will do the same…Oh and we wont get Huntalaar so we may as well forget it, Falcao will do and maybe another left winger so that he can cover Dos santos,as he should be playing in his rightful position on the left wing and he could also be our 4th striker if we get any major injuries in that department. Im also looking fwd to pekheart coming back in January his a real diamond in the rough!
edwhitewell - August 28th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
I would like to see Pavlyuchenko, teamed up with Arshavin, Falcao and Bent as the strikers. Capel or Neves for the left wing, plus some midfielders who know their job, instead of the headless chickens playing there presently, so bring in Veloso, Palacios and Alonso, and get rid of Zokora, Jenas, Ghaly and Boateng. In defence I would like to see Corluka as cover for RB, Jarque for CB and Drenthe for LB, then kick out Staltieri, Rocha, and Gilberto.
bri - August 28th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
spurs have no chance of landing these targets. when are ya going to start gettin defence sorted out you team is a joke you need a quality CB but we have the best one the great colocini. TOON TOON
jon - August 28th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
what a load of muppets you lot are, the pav deal is already done arsechavin will only come if they accept 17 mill, the veloso deal is only half agreed, player has to agree his dosh yet could be sorted by weekend , diego capel is one they are hastily trying to sort out , as for corlucca it was sorted ages ago but they are still wating on mark hughes to ok it as for falcao well lets just say i wish but ive heard thats penciled in for christmas coys

Sean - August 29th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
1) Let’s see if it happens.
2) Are you another one of the ‘if it works out to be a poor signing, slag comolli to the ground (’cos it’s part of a media agenda), and if it turns out to be a good signing it’s a Ramos/;Jol/whoever the coach is signing’ brigade’!
If you are going to comment you should at least undertsand the way that buying and selling is being handled at Spurs - involving work and co-operation between Dan Levy, Dan Comolli and the Incumbent coach!
lololo - August 30th, 2008 at 2:11 am
we don’t need drenthe..where’s bent ?
some claims that we are getting veloso today which i dunno whether is it true a not as we still haven’t see any news on it but the pavlyuchenko claims that he refuse to play for us and here he comes out of no where to sign us. i wouldn’t even dare to put my new ‘dream’ team till we sign em or see em in the official spurs website. hunteelar is a no go situation..arshavin is a 50 50 of it and corluka will be good as he can replace zokora for RB. Bale should be left as LB and i don’t trust assou garrage at all..he’s a donkey.
