Spurs to complete £30m SWAP deal within HOURS
by Mr Comfort on August 31st, 2008 362 words | 33 commentsIt appears that one of the summer’s longest running transfer sagas is set to be sewn up within hours as Manchester United look set to finalise a last-gasp swap deal to sign Tottenham’s Bulgarian star striker.
Don’t forget to check out Online Football Manager!
DIMITAR BERBATOV’S on-off move to Manchester United looks certain to be completed before Monday night’s transfer deadline — with Old Trafford youngster Fraizer Campbell moving to Tottenham as the makeweight in a £30million deal.
Spurs’ interest in £7m-rated Campbell will break the summer-long deadlock between the two clubs and Berbatov is expected to finalise personal terms with United on Sunday.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is a firm fan of 20-year-old Campbell and recently insisted that “his future is with us”. But after months of wrangling with Tottenham over Berbatov, sources close to the club say Fergie is ready to let Campbell go if it will clinch Berbatov’s signature.
Sport Of The World understands the deal was brokered when United chief executive David Gill met Spurs officials in Monaco last week after the Champions League and UEFA Cup draws.
If all the paperwork is completed before midnight on Monday Berbatov will be clear to make an explosive United debut against Liverpool at Anfield on September 13. (News of the World)
Daniel Levy has been sticking by his guns regarding the £30m valuation of Berbatov and according to this report it appears that Spurs will get their money’s worth – albeit with a young striker thrown into the bargain. Campbell is a good makeweight who has great potential and could end up proving to be worth far more than the current £7m fee. Berbatov has been a big success on the pitch for his two years at the club but his actions towards the end of the season and during the summer have left a bad taste in the mouths of the fans who have every right to be sickened by his want-away tactics and his lack of professionalism. The sooner he leaves, the better for the White Hart Lane outfit. Do Spurs fans think that this deal is the best for the club or should they hold out for a full cash fee for Berbs?

Campbell is definately not worth £7m. Once again its a case of overinflated prices for english players.

Sorry to say, your remarks, display the usual arrogance shown by a lot of Manu supporters.Which does your great club no credit..And although Tottenham will miss his silky skills. Most of us fans will say good riddance to a sulky and pompasse arse

Not sure how happy i am with throwing in Campbell?? Trading the future for the present. I hope it pays dividends!!!

Berba is a class act no doubt. If he wanted Champions league football, he shouldnt have signed for Spurs in the first place as we are not yet among the top four and we are still building for the future. Shame on him to act in this way. He should not forget that his rating and market value soared because Spurs gave him the chance to shine and prove his worth. He once said that he loved the fans and Spurs really wanted to get him and that was why he joined. Load of crap!He came for the money and looked at Spurs as a stepping stone to move on. Berba, please leave. Your heart was never in White Hart Lane. Try your antics and sulks in Old Tafford and Sir Alex will show you who’s boss. Wish you all the best and when you do come to White Hart Lane, you’ll be given a “warm reception”. I can’t wait!

Its a FACT! Spurs is a sellers club, always IS and always will BE!
tbh i fink spur who are the one losing out by not selling Berbatov, the player has already stated he dosnt want to play for you guy, so no point on hanging onto a player who gonna have negative impact in the dressing room now is ter
His value is dropping every mintue pass’s by, until he is sold and to be frank he isnt worth 30mil, all he is a 28yr old proven goal scorer in EPL whos got two more year at top form left in him.
hahaha.leso - September 1st, 2008 at 4:34 am
We would prob grant his wish in january if hard-up mancs can’t spring the wonga. AC milan wanted him but this year they got no chp l footy. There’s allways buyers for players with class. Berba’s age is not very important, he’s a bit like teddy in that he’s got not pace. But boy has he got touch and brains and that’s class right there!! He will be very good for a few years yet, WHO WANT’S HIM,LOL!!

BERBATOV The head says stick him in the reserves but the wallet says get the best $ can, And if it’s man U make sure Zorkora clogs him hard a couple of times when we play them.
Re Chelski game I thought we were lucky to get a point but a couple of pleasing areas:-
Gomaz Very assured and safe
Gunter and Bale satisfactory andimproving.
Zokora Top preformance for me at DM Reminds a bit of David.
In fact the backfive plus Zokura were very good.
Midfield None of them inspired and Bent running round up front and doing NOWT. I lost count of the long balls directed to him that he did not control

It is a very good deal for spurs as there is no way that Frazier Campbell’s value will do anything but rise. It is not such a terrible deal for us. Even though we have parted company with one of our future prospects, it just makes room for another, eg. the kid from Roma, Petrucci. He looks very good indeed. So, spurs will get their money and a decent young striker and we will get a frontman with real class, and hopefully United and Spurs fans can stop ripping chunks out of each other on forums such as this and concentrate on our common enemies, the Arsewipes and the Rent Boys, until the next time we lock horns

berbatov is a high class striker that can help united to shine again
Frazzle - September 1st, 2008 at 7:14 am
Yidman you twat – you try controlling a ball that has just been hoofed 60 yards in your direction while you have 2-3 world class defenders hassling you. Bent did well to win loads of flick ons – the problem was there was nobody running on to them.
THFC - September 1st, 2008 at 7:21 am
i think that bent did okay, but i think those long balls will be met on a more regular basis by pavlyachenko opposed to bent, hws much taller and more powerful, and im sure we will see arshavin bombing on to meet the flick ons
apparently on sky sports news, real zaragoza president is in london to sanction the deal for milito and garcia to spurs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Don’t understand spurs fans turning on Berbatov. He did the business for you on the field, and got the goals for you. In all this nasty transfer business, Berbatov has kept him mouth shut in respect for the fans. While his management, and team mates have consistently derided him in the press. Berba could have done what Barry, Keane and Robhino etc have done, and mouthed off to the press themselves. Robbie Keane did FAR worse to you lot, declaring undying truth and kissing the badge, then dropped you like a hot potato, couldn’t get to L’pool quick enough. Spurs management and Team mates have been more disloyal to Berba mouthing about him, than Berba has about them. I think Berba has acted admirably really because he does love spurs fans.
Neil the yido - September 1st, 2008 at 7:40 am
Isaidso while i agree that at times the man has done the buissness for us, there have just lateley a lack of commitment on his behalf. I have defended him through most of these debates, but surley he and agent are now trying to belittle the true fans. As it is a fact they used to idolise him, but his agent has done the talking. So if he was that loyal he would by now have spoken out and said he did want to play for Spurs. So there you have it mate go away and come back when you start to talk sense. Long live Tottenham Hotspur
larry .c - September 1st, 2008 at 8:05 am
I wish they send Jenas with him … Watched him closely last nite here in Oz & i can tell u he is a second rate player … Gives the ball away , gets bumped off the ball very easily , doesnt put his body in hard when its required & very lazy when it comes 2 getting back & defending .. Plz Mr Ramos fuk him off & get someone that will put his body on line…
Druid - September 1st, 2008 at 8:32 am
The best deal is that we keep Berbatov and he wants to play for us . Unfortunately he , like many other footballers , have no honor towards the fans the club or most importantly thier contract .
He must go to who ever pays the money . I am royally sick of these people. Berbatov’s attitude stinks of school playgrounds and greedy agents. Good riddance , Im sure he will be off with Ronaldo next season as well . None of them have honor.
Good luck MU you are possibly getting one of the most disruptive, petulant , children in football and I wish you all the luck in the world .
Isaidso - September 1st, 2008 at 8:45 am
Druid, I seem to remember Man Utd buying another so called disruptive, petulant, child in football, whose name was Cantona, and we all know how great he turned out to be. Cantona found his spiritual home at Old Trafford, and maybe Berbatov will do the same. He hasn’t left Tottenham though yet, and may still not. So it is just all paper talk really. Well done Spurs for holding the Rent boys to a draw, over at the Chelsea Kremlin. Zokora, Woodgate and King are immense players for you. No way should Woodgate not be in the England squad. Capello’s decision making stinks.
openeyed - September 1st, 2008 at 10:00 am
Isaidso obviously spouting off on what he’s sen on TV. Just how many times have you been AT a match Berbatov has been playing in. Probably typical archair expert on Berbatov. He has never been a team player, always a loner. Like a lot of United supporters you borrow Wengers spectacles and only see and say what you want to. Ostriches have a better view. Berbatov has too much arrogance and ego. If a pass is 6 inches out he glares at his team mate or puts his hands on his hips and stares. What great encouragement to do that to players of 18-19 like Lennon. A truly great encourager. As for Woodgate, he’s expressing a view obtained up close on a regular basis but hey his opinion and experience don’t count. You know better. Let’s encourage the money to kill football. It will eventually as things stand. Then what will you be able to entertain us with your inside knowledge?
YID KING - September 1st, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Word has it that Man City bid 30 mil for him with no player + transfer just the money, it will be funny to see it happen
RedMist - September 1st, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Yeah, but Berbatov’s hardly going to sign for city is he? No-matter how much they offer. Rotting in spurs reserves would be a cut above playing for the bitter blues. Wishful thinking guys, sorry

Modric-Da Santos-Gomez-Bentley-Pavlyuchenko-Corluka, let’s face it it’s not a bad shopping list is it? With over 1 Hour to the close of business, at the time of writing….Could there be one more move ?Could there still be the biggest shock transfer of them all awaiting us? Oh yeah Fuck Berbatov….I hope he crashes and burns real soon
