It appears that Alan Curbishley is closing in on a signing that could well save the Hammers boss his job!
WEST HAM have emerged as the shock frontrunners in the race for Henrik Larsson.
Larsson, 36, is set to quit Helsingborgs and the Hammers have already made inquiries about the Sweden international. The striker’s contract runs out at the end of the season and he could leave on a free in January or cost £1million now.
Everton are also eyeing the former Celtic ace, who was a big success on loan at Manchester United last season. His agent Rob Jansen said: “Henrik is choosing his club and feels he can still do a job in the Premier League.” (News of the World)
Whilst it’s true that Henrik Larsson is a veteran player, he is also astoundingly fit for his age and could well have a season or two still in him. The Hammers could be a great team for him to prove he still has the desire and hunger to play at the top tier of the game. It would probably make more sense to fork out the relatively small fee now, rather than wait until January as the Upton Park side could use him up front as soon as possible. West Ham did well to thrash Blackburn 4-1 but they are probably still short of an experienced front man to play alongside the excellent Dean Ashton. Do West Ham fans think they could pull off this star signing?
