Martin O’Neill is apparently a very busy man today as he looks to bring in some last-minute additions to his ever-improving Villa Park squad, but can he manage to secure this West Ham striker and break the club’s transfer record in the process?
MARTIN O’Neill was in the process of trying to thrash out as many as three transfers today with West Ham having put a £15million price tag on striking target Dean Ashton

Dean Ashton is a fine striker and one that West Ham will not want to lose, but that won’t stop O’Neill from trying to tempt the East London side with an astronomical bid. I guess the England international will have to ask himself if he feels that the Hammers are progressing fast enough for his liking. With two wins in three, Alan Curbishley has managed to keep the wolf from the door as speculation grows about his future at Upton Park. Ashton may feel that Hammers can still push on into the UEFA Cup spots and may wish to reward the side who helped him progress into the England set-up rather than turning his back on them and moving to the midlands. Do Aston Villa fans think the club needs another striker and one who would cost so much? Do West Ham supporters think that Ashton will reward the club with his loyalty and refuse the pull of a move elsewhere?
