Liverpool about to secure £5m winger deal: Rafa makes the right decision!

It can’t be much fun being told that you’re surplus to requirements at your current club. However, this is appearently what’s happened at Anfield, with Rafael Benitez kindly explaining to this Liverpool winger that his future lies elsewhere. Will he be moving to a new club on Monday?

The Daily Mail claim that Jermaine Pennant has played his final game in a Reds shirt and will be sold to Stoke City for £5 million, provide his extortionate wage demands are agreed. £50,000 a week is a lot of money for the Potters, who surely don’t pay any of their existing squad members that sort of cash, will they make an exception for the former Birmingham player?

Jermaine Pennant has been warned by Rafael Benitez that he will be left in Liverpool’s reserves if he does not agree to join Stoke.

Maybe the 25-year-old might fancy a year in the reserves, playing a few meaningless matches and collecting his hefty pay packet every week?! He’s failed to pin down a place in the starting XI since his £6.7 million move from Brum, would this be a good signing for Stoke or a complete waste of money?
