Manchester City make the swoop of the summer with £32.5m SHOCK move: Take that Chelsea!
by offsidetrap on September 2nd, 2008Just when you thought the final hours of the transfer deadline couldn’t get any more incredible, Manchester City pull out all the stops at the last second to steal a certain Brazilian ace from right under Chelsea’s nose!
Manchester City have completed the British record £32.5million signing of Robinho with just minutes to go in the transfer window.
A statement on Real’s official website read: ‘Real Madrid and Manchester City have reached an agreement for the transfer of Robinho.
‘Real Madrid have finally decided tonight to transfer Robson da Souza - Robinho - to Manchester City.’
It follows bids earlier in the day for Dimitar Berbatov, David Villa and Mario Gomez. (ESPN Soccernet)
With new ownership currently in place, Manchester City appear to be on the verge of smashing down the precious top four wall with potentially two of the biggest signings of the summer. With Robinho moving to Eastlands, Man City would now have the proper guns in place to make an almost assured run at Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.
When word comes out on Real Madrid, you have to believe that the transfer news is probably spot-on. Talk about a shocking way to end the summer transfer window! I am positive that Man City supporters are on cloud nine right now after hearing this news.
