Liverpool manager fearful for the future of the Premier League: Could Manchester City ruin the party?

Rafa Benitez normally isn’t a person that’s afraid of many things; however, after City added a new cash flow to their, the Spanish manager seems to be cracking a bit. He feels that City’s recent signing of Robinho could spell trouble for the rest of the top four.

For Benitez, the stunning capture of Robinho for a British record transfer fee could have set in motion a chain of events that will blow the accepted ‘big four’ wide open.

‘You cannot just win the title by spending money but Chelsea won for two years spending big, big money. Afterwards Manchester United won spending lots of money too,’ he said.

‘If we are talking about spending money then maybe Manchester City will win the title this year.

‘It is not just a question of money but if you have more money it is easier. If you don’t have too much money, you must do the job as best you can.

‘If we are talking now, maybe they (City) need time but if we talk in January maybe they will buy five players…then you never know. (ESPN Soccernet)

He does have a point. If City do have new funds, that surely makes them a serious force to be reckoned with late in the year. And based on the current rumours going around about who the club will target in the January window, there’s a great chance that City could be within shouting distance by the end of the year if they’re able to capture even two of three of the big names on their list.

Are top four supporters afraid of what City could do to the rest of the league? Or are you excited about the new challenge and the opportunity for a potential shakeup?
