‘Forget my Manchester City spell, I’ll be brilliant for Liverpool’ claims winger
by stresster on September 5th, 2008It’s been a slow start for the Reds, who might consider themselves lucky to still be in the Champions League and to have seven points from three games in the Premier League. Liverpool have been devoid of ideas going forward, with the team failing to create too many chances for the likes of Torres, Keane and Kuyt. Will things now improve after recruiting this Spanish winger?
The Guardian reports that Albert Riera is confident of making a big impression at Anfield, despite not having the best of times during a loan spell at Manchester City. Rafael Benitez has spent £5.5 million on bringing his compatriot to the club from Espanyol, and the player is now ready to take the Premier League by storm after an indifferent spell in England the first time around.
‘When I was at Manchester City, I found out what the Premier League was like and I’m now prepared for it. I’m prepared to do the tackling and not just be the one being tackled!’ the Spaniard said yesterday.
Riera added: ‘When I came to Manchester City it was in January. The team was in the middle of the table, so it was a little bit different to how it is now coming to Liverpool. I was only 22, and I’d only had one year playing in Spain and two in France, which is not as competitive a league as in England or Spain.’
Riera made 16 starts for City in season 05/06, scoring just one goal - and that was against Newcastle! Nevertheless, his subsequent progress has been impressive, making his way into the Spanish squad after a number of impressive performances for Espanyol. Do Liverpool fans think they have a bargain and someone who can bring some width to the team’s play?

Im glad i get the first post. Cos i truely believe he will be great at liverpool.
He is bringing something we havent seen in many years.
I just hope rafa plays babel on the right and riera on the left!! To be honest they are probably the only 2 players other than dossena who penetrate the flanks and whip crosses in!
My team for man u?
——————–Reina———————–
Cara——-agger—-skrtel—–dossena
babel—-masch——alonso—–reira
—————kuyt—–keane—————-
I would def bring on ngog and el zhar as subs in the last 15 - 20 depending on how we are playing!

he guys look in you tube and you would find what he`s capable of. He makes the defenders look ridiculous and i`m sure he will be a plus for the team.
I`m ok with the team displayed by Dom except one thing, i have just heard that gerrard will be back for this big clash and I would play him rather than Alonso in the middle.

I dont think you can judge much by youtube. But he is a big guy, very strong on the ball. where as quaresma is small and would be pushed off easily.
Reira is going to do so well at lpool!
adriano - September 5th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Yes he will
I think that for a replacement in the match against man u babel must be pushed forward to partner keane and replace kuyt by pennant. He can provide good cross for babel who is pretty good in the air as well as keane so can do riera.
What do you think of that?

sorry to dissapoint liverpool fans but riera is very average very very average, this is not a jibe from a city fan just to piss you off as i would love to see you push the salford scum this year ,but riera will not be the one to make any inroads

Football has certainly changed an awful lot from the game I watched as a kid, and not for the better as far as fans are concerned. The game seems to have lost its soul and things such as honour, loyalty and common decency have become meaningless words from a bygone era. The majority of players, managers, chairmen and governing bodies at the top level in the modern game are nothing but a bunch of greedy, lying, cheats.
The despicable conduct of Ronaldo over the summer and the disgraceful actions of Ferguson and Berbatov on Monday are prime examples. The sport and the media should properly vilify them for their behaviour but instead of this they are held up as role models and heroes, and a blind eye is turned to anything to the contrary. To ordinary fans the shameful conduct of these players and club officials is really quite stomach churning at times, but that’s the game as it is today.
