Worrying news from the JJB as the Wigan Athletic chairman says he will not stand in the way of this England International donkey’s move to White Hart Lane, but surely Ramos wouldn’t even consider this!
Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has conceded that the Latics will not stand in England International Emile Heskey’s way if he were to demand a move away from the JJB Stadium in January.
30-year-old Heskey was a target for Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day, but the move to White Hart Lane failed to happen, with Heskey pledging his future to Steve Bruce’s team.
However, the uncertainty surrounding the former Liverpool target-man continues to mount, with Whelan revealing that Wigan would not stand in the striker’s way should Spurs come calling again, provided the offer was right.
Whelan said in The People: “We don’t want Emile to go, but football is football.
“If somebody pays enough money and Emile wants to go we would never try to keep a player.
“We don’t want him to leave and he’s happy here, but if anything develops Emile will have the final say.” (PremiershipLatest.com)
Whilst Emile Heskey is not the worst footballer known to man he sure as hell is not one of the best. Even in his heyday he was considered a carthorse who really should never have received an England call up. Now that he has turned 30 the idea that Spurs would consider spending the reported £10m on him is frankly ludicrous, I am sure that Dave Whelan wouldn’t stand in his way of such a move, mainly because if they were offered such a fee they would probably take the money and run, but that won’t happen. For those who think that the former Liverpool man is a good player I would point out one startling statistic about the Leicester born striker, in twelve Premier League seasons Emile has managed to score more than ten goals just once and that was eight seasons ago! Do Spurs fans believe for one second they would put in a bid for Heskey?
