This source suggests that Arsene is looking to help ease his midfield concerns by beating rivals Everton to this top notch international.
Arsenal are ready to join Premier League rivals Everton in the race to sign Cameroon International Stephane M’Bia from Ligue 1 side Rennes when the transfer window reopens in January, according to reports.
Everton reportedly made a firm offer for the defensive-midfielder during the summer, with boss David Moyes keen to land the combative midfielder to his squad at Goodison Park. However, M’Bia decided to stay with the French club for another season at least.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has come under criticism for not replacing the players he let leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, with the latest reports now suggesting that Wenger is ready to act in January and make a move for M’Bia, with the Arsenal midfield lacking an out and out ball winner at the moment. The £12m rated 22 year old has many potential suitors keen to swipe him from his long term employers Rennes who he has helped progress towards the top four of the French top tier. The battling midfielder is of course the kind of player that Wenger has been consistently linked with ever since it became clear that Mathieu Flamini was going to do a runner. M’Bia has quality but not a great deal of top level experience and with no Champions League background it seems that the valuation on his shoulders may be a tad inflated so given the paucity of big money deals Arsene makes this deal would be far more likely if it was in the region of £6-£8m. Do Gunners fans think they need to buy a defensive midfielder and if so who should they aim for?
