Don’t forget to check out Online Football Manager!
There is bound to be one, or possibly more, player who you simply cannot believe has scrapped together a living as a professional footballer. A player so inept it has made you cry, a player that has led you to shout from the stands with all seriousness that “I can do better than that!”.
So who is it? To help you compile your choices, we have another great cut and paste thingy for you to register your list (although you can of course stick to just one) of the hopeless!

Surely the worst signing was David Speedie he was well past his best when Souness signed him.
Neil - September 8th, 2008 at 2:48 pm
My vote goes to Erik Meijer (spelling?). Two goals in four seasons, and he was signed as a striker!?! AND both goals came in the same game, against Hull City in the Worthington Cup!!

Got to be Djimi Traoré, frightened the life out of me whenever he got aywhere the ball.
Mase - September 8th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
i cant agree with djimi, he’s unfortunate to be remembered for THAT game in the FA. In comparison to some signings he was a success. (first time djimi and success in the same sentance)
Same with Robbie’s second coming, he was signed for commercial and morale reasons more than ability. Think of the money he generated on his return and it got the crowd back behind the boys in a fading season.
Mark Keller - September 8th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
We are blinded by Rafa’s heroics in Istabul 2005, since then the team has NOT developed; we are still merely a very good cup team with an underdog mentality, utterly incapable of adopting an offensive mentality which is required to battle for the Premier league.
Now he starts whining about not having any money to spend, when in fact he has spent £200m in the last 5 seasons. If we do not at least challenge for the league this year, he should go.

Alex - September 8th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Morientes, Traore, Nunez, Kromkamp, KEWELL, Itandje, Pellegrino, Diouf, and for the role we bought him for; Kuyt. People will disagree with Kuyt, but thats because he’s a work horse. BUT we bought him to be our 25+ goals a season man, and he failed to do that, despite being played week in, week out.
Now we play him out wide which is an excuse for the lack of goals he bags, but still, where are all the assists? nowhere to be seen. He’s not fast, he’s not skillful, he’s not a good crosser or shooter, he merely works hard. It doesn’t matter how hard you work, sometimes you can just not be good enough. Sorry dirk, but you aren’t “big four” abilty.
Andy Galaxy - September 8th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
Agree with the man Rich there…Speedie was a great little signing, scored about 6 goals in short spell he was there and was a cracking little stop gap!!… And yes it was Dalglish who signed him….King Kenny…. so Will you’re an idiot.
Worst signing Salif Diao….I am honestly a better player than Diao… £40k a week???…£5 mill????….. Mind boggling!!!…..

Paletta, Morientes was just a ghost on the pitch !!! and some of houiller’s signings (Cheyrou, Diao,…)
Chang - September 8th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
For Souness, it has to be Kvarme and Bjornebye
For Evans, it has to be Frode Kippe
For Houllier, it has to be Traore (Can’t believe Milan wanted to sign him, what a joke)
For Benetiez, it has to be Kuyt. As someone ever mention this on the web, its true that he is a hardworking player, but so are horses. Why not sign a horse, it cheaper and faster at least.
Sad to note that most players who come to Liverpool with “huge potentials” never fulfil them here in contrast to the other Big Three. Most probably think that they have “made” it when they signed for Liverpool and then become loads of crap.
Andi - September 8th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Based upon his recent performances, robbie keane could soon be vying for this title.Unfortunatly “keano” seems to to following the Nigel Clough,Fernando morientes route of good player turns crap as soon as they don the red shirt of liverpool, hopefully i’ll be proven wrong but he has a lot of work to do endear himself with me.

Diouf
torres(a complete waste of money and is only in the team cos he is lucky)
Liverpool Fan - September 8th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
Torres – a very cheap signing and barely scores any goals
Eardley - September 8th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
That one summer with diouf, diao, and cheyrou (£20M+). We were on the up then those three happened and that started houiller’s end.
Graeme Souness must of signed a dozen players that could be mention here.
A couple of people mentioned Bjornebye. He did not finish well with us, but I seem to remember him being in the league team of the season at least once.

We worship Rafa, but he has made some rubbish signings….
Antonio Nunez
Josemi
Andrey Voronin
Sebastian Leto
Jermaine Pennant
Gabriel Paletta
Robbie Fowler *the second coming
Mark Gonzalez
Bolo Zenden
Mauricio Pellegrino
This is ridiculous on so many levels. Antonio Nunez wasn’t bought by Rafa, he was part of the deal when Real bought MIchael Owen. Josemi, fair enough, bad signing. Jermaine Pennant, man of the match in Athens and continued that form until his stress fracture. Andriy Voronin isn’t as bad as some people think, he is just not as good as Torres. Sebastian Leto can’t play because Italy screwed around with his Visa, but big things are expected from him, which is why Benitez loaned him out, not sold him. Same thing with Gonzalez, he got screwed around with his Visa, and then when he came here, he got injured, only reason he was sold was to raise money to buy Torres. Gabriel Paletta was a young lad and wasn’t used to playing in the Premier League, which is a very difficult league to adapt to. Robbie Fowler was for morale, Pellegrino was brought in not to play, but to help in training and bring in the zonal marking system. And Bolo was a good signing, and he was very useful, because he knows a lot of languages, he was brought in to bridge the language barriers of many players. As for whoever said Lucas, give me a break. Do you not watch football? The youngest player ever to win the Brazilian footballer of the year, chased by ALL the big clubs. His favoured position is box to box, much like Stevie, when he plays in that position, like his debut against Everton, he is fantastic. He is also a big game player.

The man who goes up for an unmarked header too early, lands, then cops it in the face. All class.

well said aussie red!!
but our worst player in recent times has to be Harry kewell!! who was a good player before he came to lfc…. but to be honest i cant remember him kicking a ball straight in one match…

Can’t agree more than “Binousen” – TOM HICKS & GEORGE GILLETTE . They are the “mother of all “MISTAKES” Liverpool Club has ever made in years !!!!
True Red - September 9th, 2008 at 8:34 am
It must be Karl Heinze Riedle.
Played well back in Gewrmany. But in England – a useless
Cannot forget him laughing with Gary Pallister as manure were beating Liverpool 3-1 back in 1997.
As a out and out striker he needed to be our major frontman those days.
But we rather had to rely on our midfielders (McManaman, Redknapp, Ince and others – and thank God for Fowler during those)
FRN - September 9th, 2008 at 8:37 am
1. Dean Saunders
2. Diouf
3. Diao
Terry Watkins - September 9th, 2008 at 8:45 am
Aussiered, you are as blinded as the rest of us. Every single player you have defended with one line of rationale which is not enough to justify the signing.
I.E Voronin is not as good as Torres; very true! and if we continue to build a team of players who “are not as good as Torres” we should might aswell get Gerrard Houllier back…he;s not as good as Benitez, but he’s Ok. Pennant being mom in Athens counts for nothing. That just shows that Stevie decided not to play that day.
tony - September 9th, 2008 at 8:59 am
true red, during those days owen was our major frontman, and then fowler, reidle was not our major frontman
samslash - September 9th, 2008 at 9:01 am
Worst Players:
Kvarme – Don’t know where we got it…
Lucas….Still trying to prove himself but nothing, he has hurt our Macherano in BEIJING
Tom Dicks(ass) and George Gillette Blue 2
Diouf
nunez – have never seen him playing
Bruno Cherou
Djibril Cisse (broken leg we call him in Mauritius)- with his everyday new hair cut/Shit man….because of him we lost many matches…
Igor Biscan – A tortoise player
Bolo Zenden – have never seen him scoring
Krompcamp – have never seen or heard of him..
Last hopeless case – Our Veronin…Make me laugh when he plays..Not a football player at all..may be good with playing with his dicks…
John Moore - September 9th, 2008 at 9:11 am
Right, lets settle this once and for all:
DIRK KUYT: IS HE GOOD ENOUGH?
justiceforthe96 - September 9th, 2008 at 9:18 am
Kuyt is an asset, a threat, an option. He is not feared by Premiership defences as Cristiano, Rooney, and Tevez are. Im sorry but its true. Torres is our only quality attacker.
''The Bootles'' - September 9th, 2008 at 9:58 am
Igor Biscan and Bolo zenden, were crap …………….. and incredibly annoying to watch! That’s got to be worth something.
At least Diouf (whilst inconsistent) scored in the FA Cup.
Colin - September 9th, 2008 at 10:07 am
Samslash…are you really a Liverpool fan if you have never heard or seen some of these players…….but yet you can name them to be the worst. Having said that you are pretty accurate in your assessment of most of them. For me. I liked Biscan…he wasn’t great…but I liked him!! Worst player…..Jimmy Carter or Cherno Samba!

you say “This is ridiculous on so many levels. Antonio Nunez wasn’t bought by Rafa, he was part of the deal when Real bought MIchael Owen” – well who sold Michael Owen…Rafa did so therefore he bought nunez too as without one, the other wouldnt have arrived/departed!
you also say “Pellegrino was brought in not to play, but to help in training and bring in the zonal marking system” he was signed as a PLAYER not a coach..therefore he was signed to play….he is a coach now but left and came back to be a COACH..
and you also say…”And Bolo was a good signing, and he was very useful, because he knows a lot of languages, he was brought in to bridge the language barriers of many players” ….he WAS broght in to play football otherwise he would have been brought in as a ‘language guru’…and i dont know any language gurus who play (badly) in a champions league final….

OMG to say that KEWELL,PENNANT,LUCAS and CISSE are 2 be amongst the worst 3 players 2 play 4 liverpool is just crimanal and deserve at least 5 yrs in prison!!! do u actually watch fottball or see the result??? pennant is our best right winger by far ,kewell was soooooo unlucky with us but when he played he was just CLASS, lucas is a very ood midfielder tho he has a lot room for imrovemnet and cisse i wish that he is still with us!!!!! he scored a lot of goals, very very fast and i liked him a lot and yes bentiez used him as a winger a couple of times coz he’s d worst manger we have ever had!!!! cisse was also unlucky with his injuries but u need 2 judge him on his perfomances not d time whn he was injured d same with kewell!! and does anyone remember the super cup game agains tcska moscow?? we were lossing and cisse came on LATE in the game and guess what HE SCORED 2 and we won d cup only because of him 2 goals as a late sub and then the HERO benitez comes in and says : ”I THINK IT IS A GREAT IDEA TO USE CISSE AS A SUB AS HE SCORES A LOT OF GOALS LATE ON” and that is d last think i have 2 say
rich - September 9th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
KEWELL WAS CLASS ? get a grip on reality lee istanbul 2005 he legged it when things looked bad and then made the quickest recovery of his life when jumping up and down on the podium with ol’ big ears in his grasp harry was there for money yeah he had a lot of skill but he only showed it to leeds fans while making a name for himself. and as for cisse he could trap a ball futher than i could kick it nice guy though. at liverpool of old he wouldn’t make the reserves. anybody see vitor flora on you tube this guy could be good

Chang - September 10th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Guess that in the last 19 years when we failed to win the title we had so many crap players… miss the days when we had Barnes, Rush, Beardsley tormenting our opponents defence….
Continuing the list of crappy players we had. Ronnie Rosenthal – credited for the “miss of the century”. Stan Collymore, Sean Dundee, Julian Dicks, Vegard Heggem, Michael Stennsgarrd (Danish Goalkeeper).
Worst manager – Souness – he single handedly destroyed Liverpool by selling our top players and buying crap ones.
Jeff - October 8th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
It has to be Zenden… He lost us the 2007 CL final… absolutely useless! Pennant came on and tore Milan up… Zenden… just…. crosses the ball into the defender every time… he lacked pace so he tried using skill to get around people… but he has no skill so he just crosses it and hoped it would make it through… it never did… terrible, terrible, terrible player… I will never forgive him for making me watch that abomination of wing play… Riera is 100 times better….
Chris - January 10th, 2009 at 7:48 pm
Seriously… Lucas is the worst player in the premiership =/ how does he get picked
Billy J. - January 14th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
LUCAS breaks my heart anytime i see him play…he cant tackle, cant win a header and cant pass the ball. he is like a girl running around the pitch!! and rafa is starting to lose the plot with team selections…he is to blame for not starting his strongest team against stoke!
Billy J. - January 14th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
How can anyone call Robbie Folwer a stupid signing bringing him home for the second time…the man is a legend and the best natural striker to grace the field….!! GOD will always be in our hearts and was great to say fairwell for now…..

Lucas is fuckin shit!!!!!! I have never seen such shite. Look at the results when he has played.
Anonymous - January 19th, 2009 at 10:19 pm
Lucas is a useless piece of shite. Also agree with Billy J about benitez – he makes terrible substitutions aswell as crap starting line-ups. And why does he love Kuyt so much???
MartellSte - January 19th, 2009 at 10:38 pm
Nevermind that your team is sh*t your fans are sh*t your ground is sh*t your fat waiter of a manger is sh*t oh to see that fat face with the grin wiped from it by the ever dependable timmy and all the norwegians leaving for the airport sick you better believe it ahahaha priceless oh and what are you going to do when stevieGBH goes to jail ahahahaha Everton oh we love Everton oh Everton oh we love our Everton!

the worst signng ever has to be FAT FUCK BENITEZ, get gone along with keane, kuyt, benyuon, lucas, dossena, ( notice they’re all our first 11 ? ). sell torres to city cause weve seen the best of him.
mykills - January 19th, 2009 at 11:01 pm
ok folks i’m loosing faith in lucas.
to redhead “sell torres we’ve seen the best of him”
so your saying just becoz a player is recovering to match fitness he shud be sold.
so sell torres for what 50million but seeing as its liverpool prob about 12m
all goes straight to americans oh ur magical aren’t ya
Billy J - January 20th, 2009 at 12:25 pm
I recon rafa is not able to handle the pressure now and he knows that some of the players he has brought in cant stand up to the class…i would give away Khuyt, Benny Shoe Bomber, dossy the wossy dossena, keane and id shot LUCAS if i could. we are 6 players short of a great team. if we dont win the league this year, it was ours to throw away.!! last night we couldnt even hold on for the 3 points. why…? cause benetez folded up with bringing on lucas who made 3 fouls in 3 mins of play. he didnt even cover benny shoe bomber in the corner…so he had to foul to stop the cross into the box….rafa been honest i wouldnt get upset if he went to city too.
mykills - January 20th, 2009 at 5:39 pm
If liverpool dont win the league benitez has to go top and clear then he started yapping about ferguson, man united have the team won since?
Billy J - January 29th, 2009 at 10:08 am
Well what do ya know……Liverpool draw with Wigan and inside last 8mins Lucas gives away a atupid peno…..rafa brings off our 2 best players and again changes the team around. i would give anything to see him go now and bring the shit he bought with him.
LUCAS YOU ARE PURE SHIT………
leagues gone if we dont win sunday!!!
Simbad - January 30th, 2009 at 2:17 am
Lucas – Simple as that.
He cant pass…
He cant tackle…
He cant shoot…
He cant dribble…
He cant support…
He cant head…
He cant defend…
He cant attack…
Jee Wizz, he hasnt even got a bloody position. FFS!

1.Kvarme
Right in the middle of our obsession with Scandanavian footballers we pick quite possibly the most club footed defender in our history, considering we had Phil Babb thats saying something. Remember Andy Cole gamboling merrily toward goal after another Kvarme mistake?
2. Paul Stewart
He seemed to spend most of his time eating, and it looked like he encouraged Barnes, Ruddock and Dicks to do the same. The worst player in Liverpools fattest ever squad.
3.Nigel Clough
Supposed to be the next Kenny Dalglish. More like Kenny Everett
