This source has reported that a former Tottenham player advised fellow countryman Pavlyuchenko to steer clear of White Hart Lane because of the locals!
FORMER Spurs ace Sergei Rebrov has sparked a race storm by warning Roman Pavlyuchenko to beware crime near White Hart Lane.
Rebrov, an £11million flop in 2000, warned new boy Pavlyuchenko: “I wouldn’t go for a walk on my own around White Hart Lane.
“A lot of dark-skinned people live there. So naturally the crime rate is higher than anywhere else.
“It’s not nice to be a robbery victim. So I suggest that Roman doesn’t walk but drives around that area.” (The Sun)
This is pretty shocking really. I am not sure how in this day and age such statements can be made. One can only hope that Roman turned to Sergei and said “thanks for your racist advice – I’ll try to make sure I am not a big waste of money like you!” What do Tottenham fans think of these remarks and, indeed, of the Pavlyuchenko signing itself – good value?
