Manchester City Sign Ronaldo!

Premiership side Manchester City pulled off a coup at the start of this month when they signed the world class Brazilian international Robinho from Spanish and European giants Real Madrid for a whooping 42 million euros. And now the ADUG-blessed Premier League club appear to have signed Ronaldo!

And before anyone complains about misleading information, as far as we are concerned the Brazilian Ronaldo is and always will be ‘Ronaldo’. The other bloke can be Cristiano, C-Ron or whatever he wants but the buck-toothed one is the original and best. Catalan sports daily El Mundo Deportivo reports that the former World Player of the Year has agreed to join Premiership high flyers Manchester City in January.

It has been reported that Ronaldo will join up with Man City in January 2009 on a one year contract that will see him earn a mouth-watering 7 million pounds, or 7,535 Big Macs a month in more relevant currency. El Mundo reports that representatives of Manchester City met Ronaldo in Brazil where talks were held between them and the player. Ronaldo seems to have accepted the offer which also mention of option of the Brazilian international striker staying at the City of Manchester Stadium for a further 12 months.

Ronaldo is currently without a club as Italian giants AC Milan decided not to renew their contract at the end of last season. Ronaldo has been linked with a move to Brazilian powerhouse Flamengo but nothing has emerged still.

So, is this money well spent? Or a sign that City’s new owners may be leaning towards style over substance? Although with Ronaldo, substance probably isn’t a problem (ho ho ho!)
