Birmingham City have been given permission take Tottenham midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng on loan with a view to making the move permanent.
But manager Alex McLeish wants to find out if the player is committed to playing a part in Birmingham’s bid to win promotion from the Championship before completing the deal. McLeish insists he will not sign the player if he is a ‘reluctant conscript’.
Boateng cost Spurs £5million when he arrived from Hertha Berlin last year to sign for Martin Jol, but he has been frozen out of Juande Ramos’s plans and Birmingham are offering Boating a chance to resurrect his career following negotiations between Blues managing director Karren Brady and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
