Speculation grows about the future of this Portsmouth star – and one source suggests a move could well be made in the summer.
Lassana Diarra is a major summer target for Tottenham Hotspur. The France international has established himself as one of the top midfield players in England since leaving first Chelsea and then Arsenal for regular first-team action at Portsmouth.
Harry Redknapp paid a bargain £5million for the player when he snapped him up last January and Spurs are said to be willing to treble this, although the Pompey boss hopes to keep his star man.
“He’s unbelievable, he really is,” said Redknapp. “He’s a top, top, top player and yet so easy to deal with, a good little lad who just wants to get on with it.
“Please God he stays here for a while but, you know, one day he could go on and play for anybody, any of the big clubs in the world. If they want to go they usually go.” (fansfc.co.uk)
Diarra is a class act and when he was snapped up for such a small fee in January it was immediately obvious that Redknapp had one hell of a bargain buy. Since then he has got better and better and as such has been linked with an array of clubs looking to tempt him from Fratton Park.
The question is will they manage to convince him to leave the FA Cup holders, who showed faith in him after successive disappointments at Chelsea and Arsenal? Do Spurs fans think that Lassana would be a great signing and is he worth the £15m suggested in this report?
