Owen will leave Newcastle, hints Souness

Newcastle United are in a mess and it is speculated that there will be an exodus of top players soon. According to former Toon manager Graeme Souness, star striker Michael Owen could be one of the players who decides to ditch St James’ Park.

Souness was sacked by Newcastle in January 2006 after a run of poor results and, now that Kevin Keegan has also gone, Souey has been unable to contain himself.

Voicing his concern about Newcastle losing players due to the current messy situation at the club, he said:

“I don’t think Michael Owen will be alone in thinking that he should leave the club as soon as he can.

“Kevin Keegan was an extremely popular manager at St James’s Park. Michael will be one of a number of Newcastle players who’ll be looking at the situation very closely.

“All the players will be looking at their futures at the club in the light of what’s happened.”

Not that anyone can argue with that. After all, who would like to play for a club whose owner runs half the way across the globe to try to get the monkey off his back!?
