We’ve all been guilty of saying things that we later come to regret. This often happens in the heat of the moment, especially when you’re a professional footballer who is not being offered the contract terms you desire by your current club. It appears that this Blues player was getting itchy feet in the summer and made a promise that he’s now no longer willing to keep.
Setanta reports that Jose Mourinho has fired up the scattergun that is his big mouth and let loose on Frank Lampard, claiming that the England midfielder has gone back on his word about joining Inter next summer. The player is in great form for Chelsea after signing a new contract and no longer seems fussed about a move to Italy.
“Frank is in my heart for everything we have done together,” Mourinho told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“But I’m left with a bitter taste in the mouth. He said to me ‘I will go with you to Inter, if it’s not possible now, then in a year we will be together’.
“Afterwards he changed his mind.”
Ah, the pain of unrequited love! Jose has clearly been pining for Frankie who ‘can make him whole again’ in Milan, and it’s clear that the ex-Blues manager must be weeping into his capuccino right now. Chelsea fans must be positively delighted that Lamps hs stuck around, he’s clearly the in-form player at the moment.
