The Red Devils may have landed just one win from their first four matches, yet one of their star strikers is still sounding pretty confident that his team are going to be challenging for the title again this season. Not only that, but this forward is expecting the title race to be of the three-horse variety, with Liverpool off the pace once again.
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney should really know better than to make comments such as the below, especially as Liverpool have beaten his team this season. The former Everton player is not exactly admired by Reds fans, generally enjoying a torrent of abuse whenever United and Pool clash. Sky Sports report that the scouser expects only Chelsea and Arsenal to trouble the champions.
“It will be hard for Liverpool to challenge the top three,” Rooney told The Sun.
“Third will be an improvement for them.
“But I still think it will be ourselves, Chelsea and Arsenal.”
Liverpool fans, it’s a stupid question, but do you agree with the words of this charming man? After all, it’s been a solid start for the Reds this season, despite a goalless draw with Stoke City last weekend. Are they ready to make the step up and challenge their three potential title rivals?
