Newcastle United set to sign £8m GIFTED winger: But only if……

Posted by

Well apparently the St James’ Park outfit may well be about to fork out some cash for this gifted winger, but it all depends on a very big IF!

There is a strange report in todays Sunday People that says that the ex-Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan made a last minute move for Celtic’s Aidan McGeady, at the end of the transfer window, and says that he will make the Scottish striker his Number One target…. if he gets his job back!

Apparently Keegan is a longtime admirer of McGeady, and now that Gordon Strachan has started his rotation policy and left McGeady out of his team a few times, there are rumours of a rift developing between the gifted striker and his manager. (footylatest.com)

22-year-old £8m-rated Irish international McGeady is a very talented player, and one who is probably very keen on giving the Premier League a shot, even more so if he is to be dropped as part of the Glasgow club’s rotation policy. However if this deal depends on King Kev coming back to the north-east club, then who knows if this will ever happen.

With Joe Kinnear hinting that his stay at the club could range from between 6 to 8 matches, then it could be that Mike Ashley will be long gone by January and then hopefully the new owners can persuade Keegan to come back, but this is all mindless speculation of course. Do Newcastle United fans have any hope that Ashley will sell off sometime soon and, if he does leave, do the Toon Army fans think that their season can still be saved?
