Liverpool boss tells Real Madrid to take their grubby hands elsewhere: The Dane is not for sale!
by offsidetrap on October 4th, 2008 283 words | 6 commentsLike an old west gunslinger pulling a quickdraw from his hip, Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has been quick to fire back with a response to Real Madrid’s recent comments over their possible January move for defender Daniel Agger. He wants all interested parties to know that the Dane isn’t on the market!
“The situation is very simple, Daniel Agger is our player and he is not for sale,” said the Reds boss.
“His future is at Anfield and nowhere else.
“He knows my ideas because we have talked with him and he has a long future with us.
“We do not want to lose our concentration just before we play Manchester City by talking about other things but it is important that people know that Agger is not for sale.” (Liverpool ECHO)
Well that was quick. I can understand Rafa’s current stance on Agger: he’s been out almost all of last year, and because of it, he’s had to go out and find a replacement to fill his role on the squad. Now with a number of other players currently vying for the central role, Agger is now finding it hard to get starting minutes.
For Agger his role at Liverpool has become a bit of a waiting game. With the club currently playing some fantastic football, most would believe he’ll remain on the bench for the near future. I’m almost certain Rafa will find a place for him in the squad soon, however. What I can assure Agger is that if he goes to Madrid, his chances of first team football will become even worse.
What do Liverpool supporters think? Should the club sell Agger to Madrid in the January window; or should they keep him at Anfield?

Agger is superb and should be first choice along side skrtel.
Play carragher on the right and drop arbeloa as he is average.
Liverpool must insure they keep Agger as not only is he a top defender but possibly the best attacking centre back in the premiership.
Pure quality.

id be wary of moving carra to right back
i think carra is the core of the defense
no one else bar hyppia commands the area controls the back four like he does neither skrtel nor agger have the seniority to manage it yet
