Not sure about the 10 worst, but surely ‘the’ worst is Titus Bramble. One or more huge mistake(s) guaranteed every week. The luckiest player to ever play (and stay) in the top division.

Jermaine Pennent is also someone who frequently fails to impress. A winger who can’t cross a ball, or even go past a player, most of the time.

El-Hadji Diouf is scum, and not worth the money that has been paid for him.

R u serious if anything he gets underated. Carragher and Dunne are two defenders you know that WILL put their life on the line for their team. Carragher could break his leg and still play on.

I think the likes of toure, terry, ferdinand and a few are not as what they was 2 seasons ago.
Vidic alongside Skrtel would be a tough nut to crack with Mascherano and Essien infront of them though.

Everybody missed the worst defender by far in the prem: Michael Dawson. Last season, his mistakes cost Spurs at least 1 goal in every match he started. He’s so bad I can’t even think of the 2nd worst.

Worst mid is Jermaine Jenas. Singlehandedly destroys the offense of the team he plays for, as he can’t dribble or pass. When you get schooled by Simon Davies, you really are crap. Honorable mention to Gera, Reo Coker & Simon Davies

Worst striker is Afonso Alves. Rooney would score 40 goals with the chances Alves gets. Luke Moore, Andy Johnson, David Healy are other stiffs.

Diouf: a disgrace of a man, a poor forward, and a spitter.
Barton: even less of a man than Diouf, more aggression than talent, a coward.
Bramble: somehow his name fits. It should become a verb. To bramble – exhibiting uncertainty in defence – “He brambles, that lad”

After that, you are looking for other reasons to name players, often unjustified.

Liverpool fans will always back Carragher cause hes a local lad. Its just like how parents will rarely openly admit their child is a scrotum. I watch him every week. He tries hard but he is clumsy and very limited with skill. I do think if he was at a different team with less quality to carry him, he would really be found short. If we could I would replace him if a good defender was available. Theres no place for sentiment if you want to push on. Prefer Agger and Skrtel.

The Carragher choice seems to have caused some debate. Now I can understand why fans worship their locally produced talent and rightly so. This is particularly the case with Gerrard because hes a decent player (still an absolute pratt though), but with Carragher they really bang on about him being a local boy, almost as if they are trying to cover up the fact that hes not actually that good. Now the greatest irony of it all is that the majority of fans who keep banging on about Carragher being so good because he’s a local boy aren’t even from Liverpool.

If it wasnt for Liverpool fans consistently trying to ram it down everyones throats that Carragher is the best defender in the league he might well have gone unoticed in this poll; but because he is soooo overated he, more than others, deserves a place on this list.

As for the Everton fan asking where Hibbert is, can’t you read? Shocking player though – big heart, but terrible spatial awareness. Just ball watches and doesn’t see anything around him.

Liverpool fans always say who is better than Carragher? While hes not the worst, the lack of quality of available centre halfs has nothing to do with how good the player is. Being in the top half of a bad bunch doesnt make a bad player a good player. Theres not many non Liverpool supporters who think hes that good. I agree with everyone on here who thinks hes overated so for me too he has to go on the list with Bramble, P Neville, Jenas, Dyer, Kuyt, Smith, Butt, Gallas, Robinson – all stealing a living as footballers.

I was shocked to see john obi mikel on some of those lists. So far this season he has been superb and made the makelele role his own. Hes not as good positionally as maka but much better technichally. Will be better than maka was in a few years
