by offsidetrap on October 6th, 2008 2 commentsEvery Premier League champion has that moment in their winning campaign that they always remember as the turning point that made the difference between hoisting the trophy or watching someone else lift it in their face. Two goals down at the interval after a lacklustre first half performance, the Reds were facing their first defeat of the campaign at the hands of a club which believes it can take Liverpool’s place in the big four or, at the very least, turn it into a famous five.
But while Abu Dhabi’s billions may well be enough to convince Robinho that east Manchester and not Madrid is the place to be, it has not yet bought the kind of character and never say die attitude which inspired a Liverpool comeback so glorious it is already being viewed as a potentially season defining moment by the club’s fans. It’s hard to comprehend the magnitude of a win so early in the season, but with Chelsea currently steamrolling the competition, the comeback victory for Liverpool could be the perfect injector to get them motivated for what has turned into a two horse race at the moment.
But what do you think? Was Sunday’s win the defining moment in the season that Liverpool will look back on months from now, or is it still too early to say?

Man city won the first half. Liverpool won the game. It is a test of characters for the winning team. Liverpool need to play without conceding goals and scores weeek in week out. Every match is important.
