Manchester City are planning a January bid for Sampdoria striker Antonio Cassano.
Gazzetta dello Sport says Samp’s sudden slide this season hasn’t gone unnoticed by City chiefs, who are convinced they can tempt Cassano to leave Genoa in midseason.
Cassano has already urged Samp to open their chequebook in the winter market after admitting frustration over their poor start to the campaign. (Goal.com)
Cassano, who was left off Marcello Lippi’s squad for the upcoming qualifier, seems to be warming to the idea of moving north to Manchester. With City currently looking at a host of potential January targets, Cassano would prove to be a fantastic buy. And with Samp currently struggling in Seria A, the time couldn’t be better for Hughes and his new pocketbook.
What do City supporters think about a move for Cassano?

Why would we ever think of signing another Italian? They’ve all been wastes of space… No pace, no effort, total lack of class.

I seriously dont think we will be in for another centre forward in January. City’s main areas of priority are Goalie, Centre Half, Left Back and another top battling hard bastrid midfielder.

What do you mean PERFECT fit? Cassano hasn’t fit in anywhere. That’s the problem, that’s why he’s not in the Italian team, and that’s why this story is bullshit.

You’ve just made this up again haven’t you, admit it.
How about Kanoute? Make up something about him?

r u seriouse y would we need another keeper we have the best young prospect in the country in (hart) unless ur thinkin about casillas apart from that i agree we defo need a left bk and a viera style central mid

AZZ…we need an experienced keeper until Joe develops further. I agree with you that he is the best PROSPECT in the country though. Anyone who was at the game against Liverpool could see that he is a little inexperienced.

agree about joe. he has looked dodgy this season at times. think he may be suffering from the dreaded second season syndrome… which happens to a lot of young players. same as Micah
its a difficult one, because only thing both are lacking is experience, because both have all the attributes to become the best in the world, and the only way you get experience is by playing games.
dont want to get them to the stage where confidence starts to be affected early (although confidence doesnt seem to be what either of them lack), it is a crucial time for the development of both players and i think an experienced backup would be useful to take them out of the limelight for a while.
its a catch22 really, and strange thing to say, but i dont want to bring in world class replacements! but how many top notch players are gonna want to come and play backup to a kid?
playing devils advocate to my own argument here, but it can be said that micah (and soon to be hart) are on senior contracts and should be expected to perform consistantly as senior pros at the club
